'Captured' an Enemy cultivator. What to do?
So I happened to shatter the spine of an enemy cultivator who came to rob me of my stuff. But he didn't die. So i stashed him in a room and feed him every so often.

But what can/should I do with him? Basically i'm looking for ideas. Is it possible to learn enemy laws? Or do i just dump him in a very ominous room for soul gems? What else can I do?

Intonation of Consonance can be used on unconscious Cultivators to make them join your sect.

Oh I didnt know that! Thanks! Now no one will escape from attacking my base ever again.

Careful with that.

Firstly, having lower tier inners do that to higher tier enemies (Qi Shaping to Core Shaping, for example) causes Arrogant obsession to increase.

Secondly, doing that will just outright kill them and make arts like Intonation of Consonance (which can convert enemies to your sect) or Soul Inquiry (which tears apart their soul and gives you their law or a manual they know) useless. Furthermore, just killing them out in the open doesn't get you Anguish Gems. In short, it's a giant waste of resources to do it that way.

Thirdly and lastly, difficulty doesn't continue to rise beyond 5K rep for enemy invasions, at least that we've noticed on my roommate's saves. Also, a formation of Core Shaping cultivators with the assisting cultivators being of the feeding element to your pillar can kill golden core or even primordial spirit cultivators, if set up right. There's no need to forcefully reset just because you have some rep, unless you've completely screwed the pooch on your cultivators entirely, like by making them all Demonists or something.

To get their law you could :
1) Feed them sedation pill first, save the game and Intonation of Consonance with your best attainment guy. Make him/her/it happy and once loyalty is 100, he will give you his law. otherwise only knowledge can be transcribable.

If they are pretty useless, you could make them learn the rebirth skill and let them take a soul pearl to rebirth as human. And then send them to agencies.

2) soul inquiry can get their law in a very ominous room. Just remember to save as chances to get it is only based on certain percentage.

If he lost his spine then, unless you have a cultivator with reconstruction miracle, and you need Primordial Spirit to learn that, you will either have him stuck in the same room but friendly or need to use expensive pill on him. I don't think it worth it mechanically but if you want to roleplay converted rogue - go ahead, it can be a cool story to play along.
Other option would be to build very ominous room, move him there, hit him few times to get him Dying status and use Soul Inquiry miracle. Soul Inquiry is a bit random, you can get a single manual, whole law or just a global map rumor. Also it will give your sect +20 evil reputation and +1 damnation to cultivator who will use that.
Generally you want to keep your reputation neutral to be able to trade with all other sects and to avoid them attacking your sect or your disciples on adventure. To offset Soul Inquiry evil rep you will need to bury a body (does not need to be the same guy) in a grave or tomb. And you can even demolish grave afterwards to save some space on your base.
For Soul Inquiry you will need a Golden Core cultivator, but it costs only 1000 qi, so anyone should do. But you will need to get it first, standard laws does not have it. Most straightforward way would be to wait for Paladin Order quest, and choose to let evil cultists go but I guess you are long way from that, it is second year quest. Other than that you can get it randomly from manifesting miracle event, from ancient caskets you get when you mine the mountains or start with it if you choose particular starting perk, something about manuals, I don't exactly remember.

If you don't have any of that and don't want to spend your only rebirth pill or panacea pill (I'm not even sure panacea pill will help actually) than just kill the guy and be done with him, not much else to do, really. Still better to do it in very ominous room to at least get a gem, you will need tons of such gems later.

It's the manual savior perk, but I'm pretty sure it is not 100% that it gives soul inquiry. But it does seem to give it most frequently compared to others.

Maybe not, I did not test it much, tried that just once. Usually I play on canyon map with high luck miner so I get it anyway early or later.

I got some kind of bad juju in my head from initial experience where I don't want to do any of the 'evil' things and get red lightning bolts. It made me not even learn a bunch of miracles on cultivators (brown stuff must be bad, ha) and get all ansy about kill orders. I wish it were clearer what was going to generate condemnation.

Usually I don't want to see Soul Inquiry when I start with manual savior because I want one of the other manuals, It seems like it's more rare that I do get something else. I don't think it's entirely based on seed because I've played the same map with different starting manuals from the perk.

Condemnation is harmless if you are not planning to ever get tribulation though. I just use my very first GC with ~30 000 qi for every evil thing I have, most of it does not need hundreds of thousands and pretty cheap. I think he has about 100 condemnation at the moment but who cares.

I'm coming to grips with that idea and getting over "red is bad" and "not all miracles condemn".

I'm guessing rebirth may wipe it also?

I actually did not yet check how rebirth affects condemnation. I guess rebirth pill should clean it, but rebirth miracle might not.
