It is not the prettiest but it is technically the most efficient design.
Keep in mind one caveat though...this design assumes top tier stuff on the display stands. Different items have different qi gathering distances so make sure you check that.
Check out the tutorial under the cultivation section called "Qi & Qi Gathering"
https://imgur.com/CLNcrHK
Spirit wood - outer layer
Stone essence - middle layer
Element feed type - inner layer
Just remember that the distance is says includes the tile it is placed on.
If you find some other pieces with better rates (Lumina core, Phoenix wood, etc.) just replace with the same type.
The material absorbtion is only one square (directly N/S/E/W of the spot you are on) the other items are Qi gathering items so as you regen Qi while you spend Qi.
So the only things you need in the prime directions are your element items. It may mess with room Feng Shui, but as long as you do not have a room requisite item in there it will remain neutral and it will not matter for your core. You get your breakthrough Feng Shui from the sect, not the specific room.
Are you sure that the range reaches? I read somewhere that the diagonal range was quite short.
Those don't reach

Yeah it's great. Basically explains all the mechanics in understandable terms. Their general guide feels a bit too optimised though. More like a speedrunner's guide than for people who actually want to play the game.
I agree there...
The problem with the guide in general, though exceptionally informative, is that it gives a sense of "If you do everything I say you will maximize everything ASAP"
Keep in mind the guide starts by telling you to literally mod in max stat reincarnation characters...
♥♥♥♥♥ sake....if you wanna kill a games enjoyment then all you have to do is strip it down to speed runner terms (Do X then Y then Z). I am not playing a game to find and do the most optimized everything....this is why I hate linear games. This is also why I hate the internet some days....I like the idea of filling in some voids where the developer was vague....but laying out literally every step is just too much.
