My last post was made sometime around Aster marrying Kath. Having progressed further, I actually like him more. (Current progress: I alt-tabbed away from the Towa vibrator scene because the thought of her father catching them made me uncomfortable, so I took a small break before resuming.
You might be wondering what happened between then and now to make me like him more. The answer is simple: The way they built the world, and his place in it. Anyone can asspull reveal like what you learn at Fresh Fish Island, but the simple fact of the matter is that details they were planting as early as Chapter 1 finally came full circle in a way that just clicked and explained everything neatly, like it had been planned from the start instead of just making it up as they go along. I really love this kind of persistent worldbuilding and storytelling.
I mean... Kinou and Kyou actually being dragons and grooming Aster to be a man who can be loved and love others back, raising his virility with mushrooms, sending him to train in the ruins and even dictating his porn selection to nurture his tastes. His strength, his lolwtfjapanthatsnothowsexworks stamina, his willingness to accept others as they are, it's all because the twins led him to be that way after he lost his memory from his mother punching him and sending him away so he wouldn't die in the Arthur Tragedy. Sure, it's INCREDIBLY cliche that he's the prince of Arthur and all that, but that also just makes it all the more fitting that the ruins are being used as a haven for Colpis and the other victims. That's his family's legacy, and I don't think he'd have it any other way. Furthermore, the fact that his father and Riche's father were close adds to the family dynamic. I just like it. A lot.
Don't get me wrong, he still has his cringe moments, but having him go from "Just that pervert we know little about" to "... this all makes TOO much sense" honestly just kind of makes me appreciate him more?
Reason for edit, in case any mods see notices regarding my numerous edits: Spoiler tag wasn't working.
Dragon Lady drugged, raped and brainwashed a girl (on top of the fact that it's literally HER FAULT the entire story went the way it did so she got tons of people killed).. so this is kinda a "do onto others" moment. Colpis (the green haired girl) was iffy, and I feel they could have done that one better but, also in the aftermath Colpis didn't seem upset about the sex act at all so I'm not exactly sure you can count that as "rape". Tio's "possession" moment could be considered justified because of the fact that Tio was self punishing so the quickest way to help her was to in fact "Punish her" to get her over her guilt. (just rubbing her breasts was so not enough for the fact that she got an entire village raped due to her desperation moment) . Burst is the only one I can solidly agree on that he overstepped with, however if you look at it another way.. if she had been doing her job properly in the first place she wouldn't have gotten pushed into such a desperate situation. She *asked* him to help her in that fashion knowing exactly what it entails (during the titjob scene) it would be like saying "Oh I want you to do this for me and I'll give you $40" having the person do it and then saying "thanks for helping. you can go away now" and keeping the $40. It would be considered fraud on her end of the deal. In the end he negotiates with her anyhow. In the "sex portion" though you could really blame Silent more for that one who is the one that released the information. Plus the fact that even if he tried "not" to do it.. the ritual magic would have forced him anyway. Since they showed with Laurent that the observers will be forcibly influenced to follow the ritual regardless of will (such as the girls wanting to see him impregnate Laurent the second the magic went off)
Not saying that his morals are great but i like his friendly nature it seems to allow the girls to show off themselves more rather than watching them be used.
the dude is a very accepting individual and he is way more loving and lustful compared to everyone else in his world.
somehow most wouldn't find the wives he has to be sexy at all but aster allows them to be themselves and his lustful nature gives them a very fun topic to talk about or poke fun at.
CLEARLY the speed at which futa is growing is lightspeed then friend. You report 800 futa pages on Nhentai about 19 months ago, I do a search right now and find 1093.
So from my perspective Aster's story in this novel is started almost In Medias Res because we as the audience don't learn about his backstory until over halfway through the plot. But when you lay everything out on a timeline Aster has a lot of things that could be sources of extreme trauma. To start with, Aster is the product of generations of cross breading with Dragons. We know from the in novel lore that humans are the source of desire so strong that it creates monsters but we never really get an answer about if dragons have something like that or not. I'm inclined to think they do as Qu shows herself to be vulnerable to several of the base sins. (Sloth for thousands of years before humans arrived, Wrath against the creator god and the black dragon, Prideful boasting about her species, not to mention the Twin's lust for Aster.) So if dragons are capable of experiencing desire and humans are vulnerable to fall pray to desire then maybe the reason Aster can't rid himself of his lust is because his half dragon body (Really more then likely 2/3 Dragon body but whatever) has a FULL dragon's capacity to lust and his human form just can't take it.
Add on to this his possible brain damage resulting in memory loss and a childhood where he was groomed by two MUCH older girls to be their ideal man and Aster might have some real PTSD if not flat out induced abnormal psychology. Do I think Aster is "different" from other protagonists? Well, yeah I do. Not because he's written differently but because their is a good to near certain chance he literally can not control himself and is a victim rather then a hero. I mean this theory even covers problems in his character like the several rapes he engages in and why his sole motivation is meeting cute girls, he literally does not have the ability to restrain his lust.
