Trying to figure out drones for salvaging and combat.
I've gotten into the game again, finally reaching a carrier :)

However, drones confuse me, as well as some other systems that maybe someone can help out with.

For the love of god, is there an auto-engage for drones, or do I have to click the little button on the drone panel every time?

I'm trying out salvaging drones, since I went salvager gamestyle this time around, and it's frustrating to no end for the drones to go get a little bit of a big part of salvage, then come back and be told to go engage that again. Then to repeat the process for next targets.

I have a single salvaging beam on my carrier, and whenever I right-click a target I'm looking at and select "harvest resource" it only activates the beam :(.

I do to a degree find the same issue with combat, where I have to be manually telling my guns to focus and attack a target, or they don't otherwise do so with a target that is already passively locked (raiders specifically, but I guess it applies to all, if friendly fire is disabled).

Did I confuse something with drones, or am I missing something crucial somewhere?

So I didn't realize it originally, but the "Auto Target" I was looking for, was all the way up at the navigation area with the orbit.

It works fine, turrets firing on targets too :)
So I did miss something, which was that thing up the top right corner!

There is a toggle in that hidden panel under the active modules at the bottom of the screen that will make all your weapons to fire at your current target. The name of the button is something like this :)

Where is the auto target button?

just add a command to engage like in eve online. It is simple, just drag and drop your drones into space, then press F to engage the target.

too much annoying stuff in this game tbh. Like, if I have multiple targets, and I switch to a different target on the overview, it moves to the top instead of just staying where it is. And the whole 2d movement in space is just unbearable. How about, instead of holding both the left and right mouse clickers to move, make Q and E make the ship turn up and down kind of like how A and D are for turning to the sides.

Personal suggestions regarding drone group panel QOL:

- Clicking on the arrow will open/close the drone group.
- Clicking on the name will select the group (does not expand the list), with similar "selected" marker as with current drones.
- Drone group has icons detailing composition (icon of type; number of type is optional).
- Drone group name coloration denoting deployment status (white = not deployed, green = deployed, yellow = acting on orders, red = depleted).
- Drone group HP/energy status bars for overall status, like how it is for individual drones? Iffy on this because of potential clutter.
