Borderless Window

The trick is to be in the title screen and then click options (not in game) and click off the full screen in the options. It will not appear while you are in a game.

Use the command line from the article "-popupwindow -screen-height 1080 -screen-width 1920" (changing for your appropriate screen size).

When you do BOTH things, it will make it so that it no longer minimizes when you click on another application (discord, steam, etc.).

ive been using 'borderless gaming' for this, and it works like a champ... (edit: forgot to mention, for it to work with this game, turn 'fullscreen' off)

I use http://runtimeterror.com/tools/fullscreenizer/, it works perfect, and is 100% free.

It is not necessary to buy or install any tool. Just follow the advice given, including Funding's comment, i.e. uncheck the fullscreen option and restart with those parameters on the command line. This also works on Linux/Proton.

I just tested it, can confirm this still works fine. If you want borderless you can do as described above. Steps summarised as follows.
Set your launch options for the game to:

-popupwindow -screen-height 1080 -screen-width 1920

Of course you can change for your own resolution if you use different.

Once in game go to the main menu options and disable fullscreen, this will prevent the game from minimising when you tab out.

There is no need for third party software
