Engine Mounts with smaller engines

I'm trying to put a small engine on a short upper stage large tank. When I put a large decoupler under it, the shell is cone shaped rather than cylidrical. Even I try mounting the small engine to a large engine mount.

Your getting the decoupler on one of the engine nodes rather than the node for the engine plate. The engine plate node will be a good ways down from the plate (though this distance is adjustable in the parts manager).

If I put it on the distant plate now makes an hour glass shape. Still basically same problem. The engine mount makes a cone fairing to the engine, then the coupler makes and cone fairing to the engine as well.
