Kerbal Space Program 2

Kerbal Space Program 2

crua9 May 7, 2024 @ 8:00am
FYI it looks like KSP 2 is ending soon
I just ran across this video which explains the situation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwuhJCzOWs0

But the TLDR is there is a lot of layoffs and it appears next month Take-Two is laying off the developers for this game. Which means the end of KSP2 development.

Some things that are being said
* We are going to support the game after - but this could mean just leaving it up on Steam
* We are working hard on it - the layoffs aren't happening until next month

I don't know why people say that development ends. Nobody knows that (except some people at TakeTwo).

In general it's possible to get a new team working on a project.

possible? yes
likely? no

to me the single formulation "updateing KSP2" indicates for me that they concluded development otherwhise why not write will continue to develope KSP2?
But even then the question of if this is believeable stays you have to see the cost the project already took and compared to the what they got from salles. That hardly adds up.
So why would they put in more money?
And given the great response and answer from TakeTwo on the scoring takeing to zero it more and more looks like that the game is indeed dead for TakeTwo too.

I kinda assume they had no idea the news would come out and basically have no clue what to say.
I am still a bit baffled that it did come out the way it did, but I guess some people dug deeper when a couple of IG people where suddenly looking for work.

Do you believe than take 2 will do something ? Don't you know Take 2 history ?
Do you believe than there is something to say. The game have a negative rating.

Their name literally means "Whoops, that's no good, lets reset and try again"!

Old news. This was all announced multiple days ago. Why are you repeating the same news everyone already knows in a new thread? :steamfacepalm:

Yes sure, the same massive success as the first time, i.e. if "all goes well in a fully funded team" the next update of KSP2 will be released in 2028. And I'm not talking about updates, just about some quick fix for some bugs.

Ah yes, lets get a THIRD team to take over this buggy broken pile of trash. Great idea.

7'th team you mean. It's already changed development studios 5 times in the past before it arrived on steam in early access. The current studio that was terminated was the 6'th to work on it.

To work on it or to restart it ?

suprise suprise, selling a game for full price in EA was a MASSIVE red flag in hindsight. lesson learned

This game has "changed hands" through multiple studios before it started early access. This is not the first time they have done this and it probably won't be the last time either.

You have no clue what you're talking about. This isn't the 6th studio.
