The only reason I'm asking is because I have a probe that skimmed Eve's atmosphere and has samples worth thousands of science points but I need to return them to the KSC somehow.
But that's still very limiting. The probe may be going a lot further than the Kerbal. The devs have chosen to limit people's imagination for how they want their mission to go, which makes this game the anti-Kerbal Space Program.
If anyone finds a way to rip the science out of a probe, even if you have to annihilate it, please let us all know.
I do know if you dock with it, it works fine and transfers. But you can't get it unless you dock.
Just cheat. I've accepted cheating to get around bugs and lack of obvious features. I think if you get a Kerbal up to the probe core and then land them safely back on Kerbin just cheat to give yourself the science without feeling guilty about it.
