Kerbal Space Program 2

Kerbal Space Program 2

Transfer samples from a probe
Anyone know if a Kerbal can eva to a probe and grab any experimental samples it has? Or does science only transfer through docking or moving Kerbals from one pod to another?

I could not remove science from experiments or pods via my kerbal. But I do jettison my entire science assembly before return flight, and the science stays with Pod/Kerbal.

As far as I can tell science reports are stored in pods, probe cores and Kerbals, and if they're connected in some physical way the reports are shared and copied between all the possible storage units. What I'm wondering is if you can transfer reports from something which you can't physically connect with, ie a Kerbal on eva grabbing reports from a probe core.
The only reason I'm asking is because I have a probe that skimmed Eve's atmosphere and has samples worth thousands of science points but I need to return them to the KSC somehow.

I dont think so. if youre willing to get a kerbal to that probe you might as well just have the kerbal bring the science equipment with them and collect the samples in a new mission.

But that's still very limiting. The probe may be going a lot further than the Kerbal. The devs have chosen to limit people's imagination for how they want their mission to go, which makes this game the anti-Kerbal Space Program.

I went to the moon with a probe, landed and came home and orbited. Sent a Kerbal to rendezvous with the probe and I'm unable to grab the science out of it. It won't survive reenty.

If anyone finds a way to rip the science out of a probe, even if you have to annihilate it, please let us all know.

I do know if you dock with it, it works fine and transfers. But you can't get it unless you dock.

Just cheat. I've accepted cheating to get around bugs and lack of obvious features. I think if you get a Kerbal up to the probe core and then land them safely back on Kerbin just cheat to give yourself the science without feeling guilty about it.
