don't be surprised to see a bunch of bugs. UI is a bit clunky in places. saves are your friend more than usual, just because of weird bugs.
That being said, if you never played KSP? I would recommend the first one. Right now, its the more feature complete experience - More ship parts, more gameplay mechanics and features, more stability, and more ways to play. And if you're so inclined, the modding scene is extremely matured and easy to get into. KSP2 currently only beats the first game in graphics, everything else is parity or inferior, until the Colonies update comes out - With the current update speeds, its not unreasonable to assume Late 2024 for that.
And if you're really just excited about the interstellar and colony items on the KSP2 roadmap? KSP1 modded has both those covered - Particularly the Near Future Interstellar mod in KSP1 is so good that the developer was hired into KSP2 to do their interstellar engines, so you're not missing out :P
