Besides, with KSP, in order to do multiplayer you either have to disable time warp which would be annoying, have a time warp voting system which would be annoying, or you have everyone on their own clock and end up with a time paradox (such as a station built by someone in your past won't be there). The game doesn't really fit multiplayer and never truly did.
And what exactly makes you think they are flat out lying about parallel development of multi-player, there have been many communications about them implementing Multi-player from the get go and every feature being set against multi-player development.
so naive...
Last item on their roadmap :D
he's a 'fan', one of 'us', just wants the game to be 'pErFeCt'
Multiplayer isn't something you develop in "parallel" either. Multiplayer is something you develop first, then to make single player you just create a multiplayer game that doesn't have access to the network. That's why you can't just add multiplayer at the end. You can add single player at the end.
But lets give them the benefit of the doubt and say multiplayer is coming. You still have the time warp paradox which is going to severely limit your ability to create an enjoyable experience. This is something that can't be so easily solved, In fact I'd say it's impossible. Ultimately if it does get added, it's going to be one of those things where they spend a ton of development time on it and a few people will toy around with it for a while, maybe fly some planes together, people who like weapons mods might enjoy it, but most will just go back to their own single player game. It's a lot of development effort for so little gain, and that's another reason developers abandon the idea of multiplayer in some games.
I'm not suggesting they are lying, I'm suggesting that, like the developers of KSP and Subnautica and many many more, they are being naive to think it can be added at the end.
Every communication that there has been about Multi-player stated that its not being added in the end. Off course you may doubt that and think they are adding it in the end, and then call that naive.
It's not smugness, it's basic reasoning and intelligence combined with the experience I have from having tried all this with the KSP 1 multiplayer mods. Even if they get multiplayer developed (which I find highly unlikely), all the possible ways to handle time warp in multiplayer suck so multiplayer will suck, at least for space travel. As I said if you want to build fighter jets and blow each other out of the sky it could work, but there are better games for that.
I'm only posting this to make it easier to find should KSP2 be canceled before multiplayer is added.
You appear to be the one who is being smug my guy. Alshain's post wasn't smug at all and is soundly reasoned. Are you going to stick around and be willing to offer them an apology if/when you're humbled by the game getting cancelled or never adding multiplayer? With the current state of things I'd not be so confident in getting any of the roadmap feature milestones in a reasonably functional state.
Oh PopinFRESH, I have wanted so much to say this to every single repeated poster here that has been bashing on the game and or the people involved. Will they apologise when the game is fully released or will they end up screaming for something more and demand they received it free.
If the person you are responding to is being smug, and I am not saying they aren't, then what kind of horrendous behaviour are others displaying.
Some people should stop making predictions or at least do it in a civil manner. The words some people have used to describe actual people is abhorrent.
Let the dev's do the work, to V1.0 then we will see.
