KSP 2 is diying
It's sad to say this for a game that I followed for years, but numbers can't lie.
On the last 5 days the max number of KSP2 steam players has decreased from +1000 to +600 per day for first time, while KSP1 user are around +2500 and rising. Same ratio on Twitch streamers/viewers. People are moving to KSP1, I won't be surprised if modders take the same path.
Content creators like Scott Manley or Matt Lowne are unable to create good quality videos due to the lack of content and features .The bugs and the instability limit the size and the results of their videos, and it's a matter of time they go back to KSP1 to create content.

A poor optimization and performance demands high-end computers to get a "decent" FPS number and limits severely the number of new potential players.

I decided to write this after Nate Simpsons´s post announcing the patch 2 which, looks like, won't include any new content or feature, no parts, no heat, no reentry... it's "a blend of performance, stability, UI, and visual improvements".
The part that bothers me most is "We've also begun some investigations into improving the current wobbly rocket situation", that means they haven't started working on basics problems like that and the solutions are too far in time. I don't know how they are going to pull off the road map if they are investigating now things like the "wobbly rocket situation" ,they should be investigating them before launch.

If developers don't start releasing new features, new content and massive performance improvements, there won't be almost anybody playing KSP2 very soon.

The sad part is that the devs who are under tencent were like "Yeaaahh! This a $50 experience! An unfinished product with an uncertain future. That's a huge demand they ask for and the added fact that you need an extremely good pc to run the game decently.

They chose to trash the IP, i had to refund it. Good luck to the devs though, keeping this game alive will be a real challenge now. But hey, they asked for this so dont feel too sorry for them.

This is not a launched game. Most people should not be playing it at this point.

The 'dying' is only a problem if they can't actually launch it when it is launch-ready. I don't, in fact, see any reason to expect that.

Don't pull that crap it is a launched game even in early access the fact that Intercept and Private Division both say the game launched on the 24th of February means that it has in fact launched, Just because that may not meet your definition i think it would be better to refer to the people that actually make that decision

I honestly don't know what you expect to accomplish with a post like this.

You think the Devs are going to read this post and think "oh crap, better actually put some effort in now".

If you'd spent the time to look, you'll find they have announced a roadmap, they are still on the first step of that roadmap which is to improve user experience, create tutorials, etc.

The next step would be Science, at a guess that would be 6+ months away. Maybe longer.

This isn't an MMO where the daily players affects what your game, this is an extremely early release of the game for the people that want to be a part of it every step of the way.

Stop doom posting and accept you're not one of the people that this release is for, come back in 2+ years when it's closer to release and you'll likely find you have a much better experience.

It is sold at the second highest price for an EA title on steam available right now.
It is launched.
2 more weeks.

Dont expect much. The way they are beating around the bush, we are looking at more cosmetics. Burn mechanics are practically unusable at this point. Maybe the airplane people are having fun with this, but for orbital mechanics, its still a joke. It doesnt even have a decent maneuver node editor, mouse dragging is horrendous. Feels like fixing fine watch mechanism with a sledgehammer and 1" power drill.

Orbital Mechanics are not existing. My last big rocket experienced solar drag to a degree that it fell back to Kerbin from a 800KM Orbit after deploying Kolossus sails, though to be fair it might have been a mix of factors it also had SAS. Turning SAS didn't seem to help but the mere existence might just have screwed me over.

I'd say that it's probably not dying but it will for sure never become the big commercial success Private Division had hoped for thanks to the abysmal peformance of Nate Simpson and his team. Really sad to see that happen to my favorite franchise but not sorry for the devs and the publisher, they deserve the shtstorm.

I have to admit that I left Kerbin 5 times, to see Dres, Jool, Laythe, Eve and the Mun Arch and they were all painful experience. Aside from that, I'm really having fun with planes except for that bug that disables jet engines once you get into vacuum.
I'm not talking about price or anything tho because I got it as a gift.

It's a total disaster tbh.
I was looking forward to KSP 2 but I feel all hope is lost. I don't believe for 1 second that they will fix the game and it will become all that they said it would.
Hey i might be wrong and it eventually becomes a great game and i will be pleasantly suprised :).
But truly i think all we can do is let this dumpster fire burn itself out.

I don’t understand the rate of patches.

Yes I know a 2nd patch comes out this week. However with the game breaking bugs, it would do more good to release weekly candidate builds.

At least then the hard core community could help more (feedback, bugs, etc.)

Well, without re-etry HEAT/Thermals, Science, and the woobly rockets (Which still won't get addressed in the upcoming 4/12 patch) I have zero reason at all to play this!

i just hope Nate Simpson will be in charge of all the future games that the"game is alright" bandwagon will play for the rest of their lives. its what they deserve for defending this way to make business in the videogame industry

Do you have any intel that we don't ? I totally get that people can be pissed against the studio but why specifically him ? It's not like he's making the game alone and taking all the decisions so why him ? What do you know that we don't ?
