Rules for ground speed records?
Has somebody already written the rules? Link would be nice if somebody finds one.

I was thinking something in the lines of;
1) No kraken powered vehicles
2) No infinite fuel etc cheats
3) Must start at the runway
4) Pilot/driver must survive

They need to survive? That greatly lowers the max speed you can do at the end of the runway...

Wouldn't say that is true.
The ground drops after runway and anything with enough speed will take to air. Then just have ejection system and few parachutes. It should work nicely :steamhappy:

Just add a launch/jump system with a parachute or something.

I'd imagine people will prob just use the land speed rules from KSP1 that the community adopted. Sure you could still find them on official forums.

I did actually find something after almost an hour of digging;
https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/63154-thrust-ksc-land-speed-challenge/
There are some good ones;
- MUST start and finish on the runway.
- MUST NOT at any point leave the runway surface.
- Your speed run MUST finish with your car fully intact: no jettisoning parts, no clamps.
But also something pretty restrictive;
- MUST use a liquid fuel rocket
Usage of all the parts found in vanilla game should be allowed IMO.

Does somebody find more rules to be added into consideration? What would you consider as a good rule?

Those aren't the rules I see most streamers and youtubers using... it's usually whatever your fastest ground speed was before leaping off the end of the runway, it shows up in your crash report afterwards.

This is why asked about it. There seems to be some disperse about the rules. Some even drive back and compare the speeds between the runs.

Can we trust the results, is it better than comparing frame-by-frame values and estimating when wheels left the ground?
