Do the 1.0 will be compatible with Linux and Mac OS?

I hope so~ Running KSP 2 in a vm would be really sucky when ksp 1 works on linux just fine and i dont have a mac or dos

Come on folks… whether it gets released on Mac or Linux, or doesn’t. Remember that Linux has very good backward-compatibility platforms, like Proton. Before the Steam Deck came out, Linux gaming did suck. So much workarounds to get anything to work (or it never worked). But now. Literally almost every game works with Linux now, even if it’s not native. All those games that were hassles to get working? Yeah, I went back to them, and they all work now.

So don’t worry about “native” support. The community will get it to work.

Haha omg this is literally "Don't worry, we'll get somebody to clean that up."

That's a very bad mindset.

It's a realistic mindset. :hopeless:

KSP1 has Linux Support.

Because they've already said that IF they do a Mac and/or Linux port it will not be until after they've finished the features for 1.0, and likely after they finish launching it on current generation consoles.

It's not a port. Unity runs native on Linux and Mac.

Just because a game engine supports native Linux and Mac systems does not mean the developers aren't able to use platform specific features or APIs which are not supported on Linux or Mac. You know, like Direct X...

If it was just dependent upon the game engine and they could just tick a check box in Unity to magically have it make all of their code native on those platforms where "it's not a port" then please elaborate on why they've said potential support for other platforms won't happen until after 1.0; and likely after they have finished the "not porting it" work to bring it to current generation consoles?

It's simple. They simply don't want to bother troubleshooting on different platforms. I doubt that they are using platform specific stuff. They haven't in KSP 1 and since they are planning to release on Linux and Mac it doesn't make sense to use platform specific stuff in the first place.
Throughout Early Access we will be on Windows PC. We have a lot of future plans and part of Early Access is gathering info from the Community to make the best decisions for everyone.

Well, that... that sucks. It's understandable! But it sucks :steamsalty:
Can you tell us what do you feel about virtual machines, wine, proton etc? Is there anything to prevent such attempts?

What about OPs question?

Read from ksp .com that these would be part of extended roadmap but didn't find the extended roadmap, please help

In any case, thank you Nerdy_MIke for cutting the wings of rumors
