Would make sense to have it since we use auto pilot in real life on a LOT of modern stuff.

They said that "flying rocket ship" is still one of the design pillars of the game, there will be ways to automate boring tasks, like supply missions for colonies, but even that is after you fly the thing one time on your own.
In all honestly I don't want piloting becoming an optional thing in my favorite piloting game. It's like asking to make driving cars optional in F1.

i don´t see a problem with it unless it´s optional.... i mean we had mechjeb (mod) in the first one wich was basicly a autopilot and after sometime instead of flying up yourself i would let deal mechjeb with it and it still was amazing to watch and play specialy because you had the ability to choose to use it or not

"I don't see a problem in removing driving from F1, if you want to drive you can enable the optional option hidden under 'advanced settings'".

Nope, nope and nope. KSP is mainly a game about building and flying rockets, you can't remove half of that without changing the whole game, it would be like making guns and violence optional in Doom.

This is exactly the kind of dumbing down people fear they could implement.

I think an autopilot system should be part of the basic game this time around . And it is realistic since most rockets have all their basic tasks fully automated and the pilot only needs to intervene when something goes wrong.

And perhaps have a system that creates random problems every now and then so that the player has to take over.

Yesss, let's remove piloting and replace it with random events, basically the antithesis of what KSP1 is, I have another suggestion, let's remove rocket building, who has time for that?
And you know what, screw space and rockets! Let's turn KSP2 into a farming simulator!

Why is there always someone who thinks it is charming or witty to answer with answers
like this?

The OP simply asked for an option to be able to turn it on or off in his/her game.
If you do not like the option then shut it off or leave it on, which ever you prefer.

Why society has become so hostile towards those whom have different views or ask for
something from a developer is simply crazy.

The idea behind selling something is to reach the largest audience possible to sell the most
copies of the game. The idea behind designing a game to be explored and shared is to accommodate people to their special needs so they can play the game.
Would your answer have been more supportive and less hostile if the OP had asked for the game to accommodate the color blind or someone who needs larger fonts to see the text properly?

Exactly...The OPTION to have ON or OFF. I'm sure the Devs considered these and would have also included an Original Game setting for KSP2. You reach a larger market to sell your product/game. Nothing wrong with that.

If you look closely that reply wasn't to OP but to another user that suggested to replace piloting with random quick time events, which quite a lot more than a mere autopilot.

There's a line between accessibility and ruining a genre, making flying optional in KSP would turn the whole design of the game at its root, from designing and flying rockets to something else, something that's already done by other games.

Don't play dumb, there's quite the difference between a larger font or a colorblind mode and removing guns from an FPS or driving cars from an F1 game.
There's no difference between what OP is asking and asking for a peaceful non-violent way of finishing DOOM.
Crucial elements of the gameplay aren't things you can simply put on a "on-off switch".

Just my opinnion but i feel an auto pilot is the wrong kind of "realism" for the game. Gameplay should come first and that is largely, flying the things you built.
An unrestricted autopilot would be a terrible design choice.

I would hope so and if not there will surely be a mod like mechjeb in ksp 1.

A programmable autopilote writted in Jeb++ would be very fun. :KSmiley:

well to argue you choice of word 'realism'. In 'reality' autopilot is absolutely a thing in space flight but I still would like to see it as an option.

Mechjeb will probably be recreated for ksp2 if the devs dont incorporate it.
Truth is, modders allow them to save a fortune on development time so I wouldnt hold my breath for it being in the base game.
