Will there be a Realism Overhaul/RSS gamemode in KSP 2?
This would make the game way more enjoyable and make the game well worth the $60 price tag for me. Also, please fix the load time please, thank you.

If anyone from Private Division (or Star Theory) is reading this...

Consider a targeted build or DLC for educational institutions that incorporates both Realism Overhaul with real-scale bodies, fuels, etc., along with the Real Solar System and known local star systems with exoplanets as far as we have discovered them for the "interstellar" parts.

There may be a very solid market for this as either a special release or an addon for the base software. I can see school boards and parents alike showing keen interest in this software as a way to introduce all-important STEM fundamentals in a fun and accessible way, and to spur interest in engineering-related fields. I have literally bought 4 copies of KSP for my kids for this very reason.

It's true that 3D accelerators are not standard load-out for lab computers at elementary and secondary schools, but there are definitely workstations available with the required hardware in most locations.

I don't see this as a long-shot risk. Education is a targeted, specialized market with a very specific demographic and sales channels to reach regional school boards or the decision-makers at private institutions (you would need a separate channel sales team).

If the target is public schools, it's also not unreasonable to pursue cross-marketing and possible funding from the likes of ESA, CSA/ASC and NASA as all of these institutions have public outreach and education budgets. You may even be able to hedge the risk early on before deciding to spend any development money other than exploratory funds (pun intended)

Give it a serious thought. You could build something with a profound and lasting influence on young minds. When this happens, everyone wins.

I would buy it, even if it was 120 dollars. O.o

There will almost certainly be mods that give us a real solar system and something to let us play at scale like SMURFF. I do still think there is a business model in offering this as an educational package though.

I cant wait to try the Trappist system

There was a package for RSS that included textures from Google Earth or similar - in various resolutions right up to "crazy high quality". It was *breathtaking* to play with SMURFF for proper scaling. This is precisely the kind of thing I can see getting quite a lot of traction in school systems as a separate offering directly from Private Division/Star Theory.

Of course there will be, its one of the most popular mods. But I really hope they work on better compatibility this time, it shouldn't require so many other mods that some of them never get updated...

I really would love it if there was an extra elective you could take to learn about rockets and become great rocket scientist:steamhappy:

RO was a mess, IMO. SMURFF let you play real-world scale and didn't break other mods like Interstellar, USI suite, etc.

Edit: This is SMURFF[forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com]. After getting sick of RO breaking everything, I switched to SMURFF and never looked back. Apparently works with 1.7 though I haven't tested it.
