Terminator: Resistance

Terminator: Resistance

Changing the resolution manually in Fullscreen and Windowed Fullscreen modes.
Just as the title suggests, I wish this simple thing to be implemented now that we have a brand new, massive update for this game. I can no longer play it in Fullscreen and 2K resolution on my native 4K monitor. Why would I want to do that? The stable 60+ frame rate and maxed out details of course.

Look, this is a simple issue with hopefully a simple solution. I don't even understand why the resolution setting would have to be locked from the in-game panel, 99% of games don't do that and neither should Terminator: Resistance.

My thanks in advance!

Same here. I can't play 2560x1440 on fullscreen. It automatically goes to 4k if I do so. My PC can handle it no problem, but I don't have a 4k monitor unfortunately.

You're not supposed to run games at non-native resolutions. Use the resolution scale slider to lower the internal rendering resolution. The reason it's done this way is to render stuff like text at native resolution, while the 3D graphics can be rendered at lower resolution. If you lower the main resolution, text and the like gets blurry.

Okay, I discovered the resolution settings are bugged. My game is running at 1440p despite it saying it's locked to 4k. All I have to do is select windowed mode to unlock resolution, select desired resolution, hit apply. Then go back to options, go Fullscreen and then exit the menu without applying. It will retain Fullscreen at previously selected resolution, despite 4K shows selected and locked.

Very weird, but not the first time I see this in a game.

(I have a 2560x1440p monitor, by the way. That's why I don't want the game running at 4K)

Set Resolution Scale to 50%. The internal resolution will be halved, the HUD and such will remain native.

This is how all modern games are supposed to work.

To stop you setting a non-native output resolution. The Dolphin emulator ended up doing the same thing because people kept changing the output resolution not understanding that you're supposed to change the internal resolution, not the output. There's no reason to change the output resolution. All you're doing is making the HUD blurry with zero benefits.

There's no way it's actually running at 4K if you don't have a 4K monitor. It's running at your monitor's native resolution. At most it's a bugged label.

I just removed 4K DSR from Nvidia Settings, now it shows 1440p.

Fiddling with that resolution scale to 50% does the trick for 60fps, but it's a very weird compromise since I have played THOUSANDS of Steam games which simply allowed me to downscale to 2K resolution and no, I never encountered blurry texts at any point. I know that a 1070 isn't an adequate GPU for 4K gaming apart from old stuff or indie titles of a lower standard, but being able to properly downscale hasn't been an issue until this new update to Terminator: Resistance.

Before the most recent update, I had played over 10 hours already with the resolution I could set up manually and I didn't expect this silly issue to arise now. Bugged or not, I want the manual setting implemented once again. Players shouldn't have the resolution option locked, this is PC gaming, not console "options".

I know it won't run, what I'm saying is that the resolution setting shows 4K, and hitting apply does change it to 4k, messing up my display. The pointer, text and other letters look super tiny.

Changing the resolution is completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥. For no reason it runs at 4k, on my 1440p monitor. I know because text gets smaller and performance drops. FIX THIS

Well I am glad that I'm not the only one complaining. The issue is void of any logic and I shall only resume playing after it gets sorted out. The sooner, the better.

I know this is an old thread but you need to go to...

AppData\Local\Terminator\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

Find the GameUserSettings.ini file

Scroll down till you find the resolution that is not your native and change them, done! 👍
