Terminator: Resistance

Terminator: Resistance

Spoiler: Annihilation Line ending
Granted I had to play this in small chunks over a few days, so I might have missed something. But why was Jacob’s dad in possession of the photo to give Kyle? Are we supposed to infer John had given it to him but he got captured before delivering it to Kyle? And when was that supposed to have taken place? If his dad was in contact with John/The Resistance why did he never try to contact his son?

I feel like that ending could have had a lot more punch if I wasn’t confused the whole time. Did I just miss something?

Remember the letter you and your dad took from the schools time capsule in the 1st mission? The photo was in the envelope

Rivers and his dad found time capsule in school, and took out of it a letter from Connor-and father promise to Rivers that they found the person it adress to, and when they return to they hide out they were attacked. Both of them survived but all those years think other died. Father, in the memory of his lost son, want to deliver envelope, but was captured and held in Skynet camp for many years. Nortridge settelment found and save group of people exhausted and barely alive during years in cages - then it went silent. So group in comand of Kyle Reese sent to investigate by Connor.

it was lots of fun, but the ending was forced.

Ok, thanks. I completely spaced on the letter in the time capsule. But that just makes it even weirder. Why would teenage John Connor stick a photo for Kyle in a high school time capsule? If we go by the end of the 2nd film when Sarah says she thinks she will tell John about his dad. We can assume she tells him that THAT specific photo is the one he needs to give his father. So I guess it would be somewhat plausible John would stick it in an underground time capsule to ensure it survived Judgement Day. But why did he then never go back to retrieve it?

Don't get me wrong, I love this game and it's DLC. But I really loved how it slotted so nicely into the existing films. And I still totally loved seeing the actual photo of Sarah at the end. But it just felt a bit clunky. This DLC worked, it just felt like the pieces had to be forced together a bit to tie Rivers to the main story. It's also eluded to that John picked Reese and Rivers for the mission because he seems to "Know" things. I can't see how John would know anything about the significance of this mission outside of the fact Rivers' dad was among the prisoners.

I'm a die-hard fan and I think that ending was terrific honestly. It was a good twist and had emotional weight to it. River's father knew John in school so its likely he knew his backstory and infact mentions offhand that John has a reputation for prophesying things and events that would later flawlessly fall into place, which Reese alludes to throughout the campaign. Probably laughed it off as a kid as anyone would but when Judgement Day did come he decided he had to take Jacob and dig the capsule up and he realized when he did it did serve a legitimate purpose.
