IMHO the DLC will be a seperate campaign, just like the Infiltrator DLC.
"To find answers, Rivers and a small team of Resistance soldiers led by Connor’s right-hand man Kyle Reese, must head into the most dangerous territory imaginable...the land beyond the Annihilation Line".

Since they mentioned it takes place mid-way through the original campaign's story, it would be kind of cool to see, or hear sounds of a battle in the distance while playing through the campaign at a certain point, just knowing it's a part of this DLC's story taking place, while revealing the exact timeline.
EDIT: The hunting season is the mission where you are sent to investigate the signals of soldiers that were sent to a terminator controlled teritory by the infiltrator model. In order to get the whole quest done you have to successfully scrap the infiltrator model. After the cutscene of zoomed in terminator inside the hideout you may start the dlc without getting any spoilers.
