Laser Traps

How do i set the Laser traps for the PC version?

Drag them into your weapon wheel like they're a gun, not a grenade. Then switch to that "weapon" slot, go up to a vertical surface until you're close enough and a white ghost of the tripmine model appears and "fire" to place it

thanks, i did all that and get a red shape of it but i cannot place it anywhere, ill keep trying, maybe the red shape is telling me NO!!!
