Terminator: Resistance

Terminator: Resistance

This game runs horribly on my computer
Meanwhile I can play Doom, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider with no problems.

My fans rev up when I play Terminator like it's trying to take off. Then it freezes. It's as if this game is infected with a massive virus from the future that hogs 100% of my computer's resources in order to come alive.

Windows 10.

Maybe you're the creator of Skynet.

Ona serious note, no idea. Maybe you're running out of memory or something? I don't know buddy, sorry.

I know with VSync off, in the main menu things can max out and you'll be at like thousands of FPS, that could be causing your CPU to boost into unstable territory if you've overclocked it

Try to run in Admin Mode?, try everything.

I've never tampered with any settings to push this machine at all. It's a regular PC with a 7 year old graphics card. The card was good 7 years ago. Still good enough to play most modern games on medium settings. For some reason this game just kills it.

7 year old card, but which model is that? Did you checked the minimum reqs?

7 years is ancient, even if the gfx card back then was top of the line. Plus consider, RAM, Motherboard and CPU

I haven't looked at it in a while, a friend gave it to me. Yeah, it meets requirements. And like I said, it runs comparable games smoothly. I'm going to reinstall it and see if that helps.

You said 7 years old card. The minimum reqs are a GTX 1050, which came in 2016 and the RX560 on 2017. If you card really meet the requirements, you should be getting acceptable frames. And also theres the CPU part as well.

Actually 8 years old, it turns out.

HIS 7870 IceQ Turbo

I guess it's time to upgrade.

Weird, though, that Terminator is the only game I can't play. It runs smoothly for a while despite the jet-engine sounds, then randomly freezes. It's the only game my computer can't handle.

Unreal engine games tend to heat up the GPU a lot more than others for some reason.

What are your spec's.

What temps are you getting when playing.

Your card meets the min needed to play, so it's not the graphics card.

Could be your CPU over heating, dos this game put heavy use of CPU.?

Install CoreTemp to see what temps your getting.

It's just a HP Z400 Workstation

Intel Xeon W3570, 3.20 GHz, 8 MB cache, 1333 memory, 6.4GT/s, Quad-Core, HT, Turbo

800 MHz, 1066 MHz or 1333 MHz DDR3

HIS 7870 IceQ Turbo

And a 1 TB solid state HD

(I just copy and pasted what info I saw I'm not super familiar with the terminology)

Are you using the cooler that came with the CPU.
Do you have case fans to help with cooling.
When was the last time you cleaned the dust inside your case.
