Is this a "woke" political game like the new terminator movie?
See title - not interested in buying a mysandrist game about extremist "woke" politics full of mind numbing propaganda.

Actually considering the most recent movie, perhaps we should all boycott Terminator IP going forward??

Anyway - is this game like the last movie? Is it full of hard left propaganda?

---EDIT---

Op here --

I want to address this because it was said so many times.

I really enjoyed T1 and T2. I don't mind strong female characters (I married one). Sarah Conner was awesome and amazing and a heroine.

What I do mind is the recent bout of "woke" propaganda posing as entertainment. It has all the subtlety of a sledgehammer, plot and great sci-fi ideas go by the wayside and plots are contrived and canon twisted to bludgeon you with high-school level propaganda.

Not at all woke. The commander you work under is female and that's about it. She is also subordinate to John Connor. She is not the leader of the resistance just the commander of one part of it. Otherwise this game is not political in the slightest. Also it's made by Poles and Poles really don't do social justice like the rest of Europe.

Thanks for the clear analysis. I will give it a try and hopefully enjoy a good game.

If nothing else it will help the Polish studio.

This game is the opposite of woke. Which is a plus in my book. Nothing kills immersion like cringe elevated female characters man bashing and coming off as childish.

What a pathetic thread...

Fear not, OP. The protagonist is as vanilla as it gets, and this game has absolutely nothing to say.

Watch out, though! There are both women AND black people in the resistance. :steammocking:

No one cares if there are women or black people in it, they just don't want to be preached at about it. Characters should exist as good characters, not as a political talking point.

I mean this is a franchise built around Sarah Conner, not one fan cares that she's a female in a lead role, they care that she's a well written character and not an SJW

Sadly in the new movie she is pushed as a feminist icon. The death of a franchise.

I can't be bothered to see the latest movie, it might as well not exist

Well, my problem with the latest movie is less the "woke" politics than the simple fact that it was "proudly ignoring the rest of the canon". See the only thing worse than what they did in "Genesys" was pretending it never happened and not trying to fix it. Rather than the stupidity of corrupting John, they basically just re-wrote things to make it so he wasn't that big a deal apparently (which defeats the purpose of the entire storyline).

See, I think it was fine on a basic level to push Sarah Connor as an aging action girl, they already established that in "Judgement Day", but trying to make her the focus doesn't work and it cheapens the character. Part of what made her strong was seeing her be effective despite the knowledge that the story wasn't truly about her.... and as far as a female terminator goes, I had no real problem with it when Summer Glau did it on TV.... so that was no big deal for me. If they had simply said "hey here are some strong women doing action-things" it would have been fine, and fit the series as it has been for a long time, but the agenda they inserted into it sort of destroyed it.... even if the movie itself is fine, all of the things they said about it outside of the movie wound up ruining it.

Things will truly be "woke" when they can have strong women without the preaching and flashing the neon lights about it, and making it so they need to demean men and claim we're all somehow threatened by it (which is ironic when guys were creating female characters like that decades before now)

Hard left propaganda? Give me a break. T1 and T2 were built around a strong female character. If having more representation by the sex opposite to yours or races other than yours ruins something for you then you're the problem. You shouldn't interpret increased representation as an affront to your way of life because it's not.

No poz or ♥♥♥♥ politics yet and I'd say I'm near the halfway mark

They killed off John Connor mate...

And replaced him with some 5'1 Mexican chick.

Obvious is obvious.

No she wasn't. She was a very well written character with lots of depth, vunrabilities, and femininity when pushed too far like in the whole part with Dyson. She isn't lorded over any other characters, isn't perfect and capible of everything instantly, isn't the most important in T2, and isn't used as a mouth piece for social justice, she's just a tough woman and that is why even this many years later she's still beloved and always mentioned in the same breath as other strong females done right like Ripley from Alien. Too many films and games these days don't even attempt the level of depth those two had and instead just make Mary Sue's or mouth pieces for social "justice" which is a damn shame as it does more damage than just being sexist in the long run.

In short, there's a right way of writing compelling characters, and a wrong way. The new Terminator flick went all in on the wrong way and bombed hard for it. Thankfully the game dosn't do these mistakes and (so far, I'm about 4-5 hours in) is a love letter to T1 and 2 fans. It's pretty good.
