This game is canon, alongside Terminator 1 and 2.

We wish it was. Sadly this game doesn't appear to have made as big a splash as those movies did, or otherwise we'd be seeing more content for this game like a prequel or DLC.

None of the others really did too so this is either prequel -> T1 -> T2 and ending with John being a senator or T1 -> T2 -> TResistance.

I never understood how movies like Alien and Terminator (and Predator to a lesser extent) spawned such a religious fanbase. There are two great movies in each series and then capable and competent directors took the the franchises and dragged it through the gutter and made it worse and worse. Then the original team comes back and still can't get the series back on track. Both series should have ended after the second entry. All these sequels and prequels and spinoffs just make the originals seems like masterpieces.

Terminator: Resistance arguably treats Terminator 3 as slightly adjacent canon, because the Infiltrator is a T-850, the improved plasma-resistant model introduced in T3.
