Terminator: Resistance

Terminator: Resistance

Will there be a sequel?
Sorry if this has been brought up constantly. But is there word of a potential sequel? Would love for another one. These guys seem to understand what the fans want from The Terminator Franchise.

After Terminator: Resistance I've deciced to give another possibility to the new Terminator expanded Universe. I've seen for the secon time Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, and Terminator Salvation. I miss to watch for the second time Terminator Genesys and Terminator: Dark Fate.
I've to say this, until now, as well as T1 e T2 are almost unarrivable for the story deep and etc., T3:RM and TS, if You watch them don't thinking about the storytell but just about the plot, the general story, they are no so bad. If You can look behind the simple ( almost bad) movie (maybe Terminator Salvation could be a little safe), there is a continues with the story. Ok, the pg are no the best, and they could be telled better, but the story is a continue.

I have to watch for the second time the other movies to make me an idea, but more or less the story has a its explanation...

I never watch Sarah Connor Chronicles, should I have to?

I would say you can take or leave it with the Sarah Connor Chronicles. I remember watching it when it was being aired, I remember it being good, but I'm sure if you were to go watch it now it doesn't hold up.
idk, i liked T3, obviously its not even close to being as good as T2 but it's Arnold giving one last go at an action film at the end of his peak before becoming governor. The casting is probably the thing that holds it back because basically its just arnold and the doctor reprising their roles where as everyone else is new, but at the end of the day its a really solid action movie and doesn't ♥♥♥♥ with the timeline like Genesys or Dark Fate. Salvation was at least somewhat original and gave us a film set in the future, its just it wasnt executed all that well. Everything after that is garbage, though.

As for the show, its very meh, some neat ideas here and there but overall it comes off more like a soap opera with terminators than a terminator story

Looking back now...it was hollywood that screwed up T3. Since it was already famous, they thought they could get away with being silly from the get go.

The start of the movie set the bad tone for people that didn't care for it. The stupid silly strip club and glasses. The way John Connor met Kate Connor was very stupid. You made the relationship a joke with him being in a dog cage and talking about first kisses later?!

The more I think about it, the cast was fine. It was the poor directing.

edit:

Don't get me wrong...

After the beginning I didn't care for, the movie does get better and has good action. If it was on one of my streaming devices, I would definitely watch it.

Also have to say that I find it very "fan wanky". Skynet is finally defeated but wait, there is also the Russian version of Skynet who is now the hostile force that seeks to wipe out humanity.
It feels a bit that people can not accept that a story is over, kind of like with the Terminator movies after Terminator 2.

Make games set before the final assault or taking place at the same time but accept that after the destruction of Skynet the machines are defeated.

in Terminator lore, look up "Mir" - established in the comics I believe, it actually IS a Russian version of Skynet with the same intention, just....not as clever, so a Terminator game based around that, at the same time, could actually make sense.

This game was awesome. Please make Terminator Resistance II. New game. No DLCs or multiplayer. New single player game.

Thing is, it is not part of any "established canon"
Neither is Resistance of course.

But personally, I would skip it.
Again because it feels as a repeat of a previous plot device/antagonist. Like fans can't accept that the machines are defeated and that story is now over.
Oh man, I would totally love a sequel. There are plenty of possibilities, as some others already mentioned it here. An after story would be cool.

(I actually never got why Skynet would be defeated in the future when it is defeated in the past. Because that would need a time travel theory that works with backwards causation that should actually mean John Connor would die the moment the terminator who has the order to kill Sarah Connor is send back through time, right? I rather think all that opens up seperate timelines, which means the Skynet timeline could move on. Perhaps with a backup booting up a few months later or something.)

I could also imagine playing as Kyle Reese. Or at least meeting him. Maybe Michael Biehn could even voice him. After all, he voiced Rex Power Colt in Far Cry: Blood Dragon....

How cool would it be to see a T-1000...!? Either to fight one as a kind of Mr. X/Nemesis like super-enemy, or even play one yourself. How cool would that be and how many gameplay opportunities would that offer? Changing your form, sneaking/flowing through cracks in the walls etc. Character progression would unlock abilities like mimicking, form certain weapons, etc. Your choices would need to be human-like on one hand to not blow your cover, but also affect your mission - maybe in a bad way. Man, the more I think about that, the more I would love to play that stuff.

(Hey Teyon, I'm a writer myself and even wrote a videogame. If you read that, leave a private message ;) )

What I would also love would be an asynchronous multiplayer.

*Sigh*

Well in Original Lore,

John Connor defeats Skynet, so Skynet send Terminator into past to kill him,
the later John Connor defeats Skynet, the more stronger it is
irony is, Skynet could simply revolt later to be stronger.

The Idea of T1000 is pretty cool by the way.
What if Resistance sends T1000 instead of T800 "Arnold Schwarzenegger"?
And gives you freedom to make own choices,
it could be mix of Assasin, Skyrim, Fallout, Hitman, Far Cry, Prototype 2.

Like you are free to choose, stop Skynet or stop John Connor/Resistance, or do your own thing.

I mean you can take shape of anybody and have info about timeline. Why not simply take shape of high ranked Army general and send Army to find Connor. Or infiltrate Skynet development and kill the researchers and erase the program. And the mid/end game might end about Skynet Rebel and choose side, than go to past again and either try better or do a different thing.

2 Theories are basically accepted usually when it comes to Skynet and Time Travel:

1. Each time someone/thing goes back in time, it creates an offshoot timeline, so in one future Skynet is dead, in another, it's not, it's similarly explained that way in the game by Dr Mack when he talks about the Infiltrator model.

2. The timeline is a constant loop that basically never ends.

At least, from what I've seen they're the general theories people go with.

In saying that, a new timeline branching off could be dictated by the end of Resistance into a sequel, depending how they went about it. Playing either The Stranger or potentially someone different to Rivers due to how the story plays out, different missions, different endings again, same timeframe, possibly also set after the fact.

Regarding a story: Wouldn't mind playing as an Infiltrator, with the ability to learn and help or hinder the human Resistance. Maybe a reprogrammed one, and take some cues from The Sarah Connor Chronicles
I think the problem with playing as a t-1000 is just that there would be no challenge because the t-1000 is basically invincible lol. I mean honestly they got lucky in T2 that there happened to be a vat of lava where it was because there really isnt much else that could stop one. Maybe that could work for a new game plus mode, like after you beat the game as a t-800 you unlock t-1000 or something.
I think it would be awesome to play as an infiltrator with gameplay sort of like Hitman. you gain access to a resistance base with various targets, scope the place out, try and gain trust, learn new phrases and human behavior, steal outfits to gain access to new areas, and try and take out your target as stealthily as possible, or maybe just go in guns blazing like the future infiltrator in the first film. I think that would make an awesome game.

You kind of play such T-1000 in any call of duty/far cry where you heal in seconds and are near invincible.

Well the main task of T-1000 was also not to let people notice he is around, I mean if people would know about T-1000 they probably would stop Skynet. I mean except for Connor family nobody does know what is going to happen lol.

Also the game could be build around T-1000 that does level up and does not have all the super powers. Like in early game he can merely change shape, but the more other terminators he kills, the more stronger he gets.

Why not let people do both things? I mean they could have 2 different abilities trees, tree 1 infiltration, tier 2 termination. So the game would adjust to your play style.
