Terminator Resistance vs Terminator Dawn of Fate
Hello all,

In some of the topics on this forum a couple of gamers have mentioned the old Terminator Dawn of Fate game when the subject of older Terminator games is brought up; this game being one of the favorites of some gamers.

For those of you who know not know what Terminator Dawn of Fate is. T: DoW was a third person (I say third person though the game used fixed cameras similar to the old Resident Evil games.) story driven shooter on the Playstation 2 and original Xbox. It was one of the few Terminator games that I can recall that acted as a prequel to the original Terminator movie.
It was primarily an action game with some lite exploration elements and segments in which you control a turret.
The storyline has some similarities to T: Resistance as the campaign dealt with the introduction and threat of the Terminator infiltrator and Skynet working on the Time Displacement Equipment to change history in its favor.

Like T:Resistance T: DoW was not well received at the time because of its controls and graphics but it did have a following among Terminator fans as the game tried to be more like the Future War from Terminator 1 and 2 flashbacks unlike the later games which took their references from Terminator 3 and onwards.

Gameplay wise and graphic wise the games can not compare to each other but I would like to ask people who have played both games what they things of these games as a prequel to Terminator 1 (and 2) and which they prefer.

Well for me T: DoW despite its flaws was a more truthful prequel to Terminator 1 for a long time since Terminator on the Sega CD. (not bashing Future Shock and Skynet but those felt more like tie in games or spin offs) While I did like that game at the time I now realize that it is in general an okay action platformer with a Terminator skin (but with some great music)
Still I did feel that T: DoW Was a little bit off here and there such as the resistance people uniforms, some of the weapons, every thing being more "game-y" for the lack of a better word.
Not to forget what Kyle Reese looks like.

I did like the new variety in Terminator designs such as older models, new Skynet war machines, the Skynet Initiates or Machine Men, and levels such as the asylum with its moody outdoor lighting, and the assault on Cheynne Mountain including the fight against the Skynet computer core.

But having now player T:Resistance I do feel it is a bit more faithful or accurate to Terminator's Future War, the atmosphere, how the fighting plays out, the look in general, even story wise it feels a little bit stronger here and there.

So for those who played both games, which is the better prequel for you?
