I'm sure if the devs don't modders will.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I kinda suspected it would be a tech progression thing.

This was NOT helpful! Where the hell do you get the Purple or "Violet" grade weapons?!! I got one off a Terminator but it's CRAP! How do you get them, where are they found?!!

I can't answer to you and give you details without spoiling you the story.
You just have to know that you are in the future, but not as much as the future period in the first movies where it's close to the end of the war. At the beginning of the game you're not at the end of this war (so far, because this future will come during the game), and skynet don't have (now, at the beginning of the game) the technology they will have later.

But it will come during the game. Be patient, young padawan, take your time (the time is something special in the terminator licence), the game story will explain you why and how the upgrades will come, and you will understand.

The violet grade will come to you (and for terminators too) later in the story with a mission you can't (and won't) avoid to continue the game. You WILL have to do this main mission to continue the game and see the world in violet color. Don't worry, you will get your violet weapons, you can't miss them :)
I know, it's not helpful too. But you will have to play more and discover by yourself. I won't say more about it. The spoil is a devil :p

Just play the damn game guys they straight up give them to you by the second half and the final gun skill points specifically says it unlocks the ability to use violet plasma weaponry

I am 100% on board with red plasma being an aesthetic killer, mostly because its so generic. I do like the tech-progress concept though, as the main infantry rifle in the future segments of the Cameron films are different but line up to the chronology explained in the game. In the future flashbacks of the first film which take place in the stalemate period of the war, Reese and the rest carry the first gen rifle, and in the opening
scene of the second film, which we find out in the game is [HEED THE SPOILER WARNING FFS], infact the final battle against SkyNet, they have the 2nd Gen rifle.

What I would propose if I was a modder or in contact with one would be to keep the tech progression but change the first-gen plasma and scopes to light blue, as the scopes are in the first film. It would settle better with the immersion of the scenery. I'd really like someone to do that.

Have you seen TECH COM 2029??? It looks WAY better & has been in dev longer then Resistance! NO RED PLASMA either! You play as Reese. Check out the vids on it. I posted one above.

Also... The Modding Community on Resistance seems pretty much at a stand still. The most Recent update screwed up a whole bunch of the few Mods that have been made.

But... You can make your own Mods for the game if you want: https://www.nexusmods.com/terminatorresistance/mods/10?tab=posts

My dude, I have been following him for over a year and get pants-destroying erections each time the dev posts an update. I cannot ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wait for it. Praying that the jackass who owns the license to the franchise and only causing its destruction doesn't cease-and-desist the dev. I thought that one-level "FPS Terminator" fan game floating around years back looked dope but Tech-Com makes it look like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in comparison.

Some people are speaking in this thread about Tech com 2029.
But the last time i checked about it (a lot of months ago) it was a fan-made project but without having any terminator licence.
And without be licenced, there is no chance that the game (sorry, i meant the demo) could be released without to have some big law problems. It's impossible. Then it will never released.
Something has changed about this?
Ps: I just checked on the net again. I don't see any changes about that.

I mean, providing its free I don't see what room for dispute one would have.

I mean, its being distributed for free. I don't see what legal grounds for dispute one would have as a profit isn't being made off the license. Then again the guy that made that T2 mod for San Andreas got muscled into pulling it so idk

Free or not, using something under licence without having any licence agreement, the owner of the license will have his (final) word to say. And if it's no, it will be no. And if they don't comply, they will eat a lawsuit (be sued). And i have some doubt than some indie devs which are only simple fans would want to take the risk to have to pay them some millions (especially if they release it for free and don't gain any money to pay).
Perhaps it's not like that in all the countries, but in mine, it's like that. You don't make what you want with something licenced, if you don't have a licence agreement.
But perhaps the licence owner won't care about something released for free. It can be like this, or can be the opposite. It depends of him.
Teyon paid them to have the right to use the terminator license.
The owner of the license has earned money with Teyon.
With a free game, coming from devs who didn't pay for a license, he won't earn any money. Worse, it could be counterproductive with terminator resistance and therefore for his money (depends of their contract between him and Teyon, initial payment or % on sales to use the licence ,exclusivity or not, etc...).
If he feels that it is not in his interest and he does not want this product to be distributed or using his licence without any agreement, he will win in any case.
Personally, until they declare having some licence agreement, what they don't have, or that the licence owner don't care about this future product, for me it's only a vaporware. A little demo from some fans about a game which will never be released.
