- Which gamepad did you use? Had you selected and configred it in Setting tab?
- To "re-flash the game cartridge" aka change rom, just point to the game slot and press the "Select" button.

On that note, will it be possible to replace an entire tilemap with 3D models/voxels? Or is it still like how I saw a long time ago, where there are predefined shapes and behaviors to add to games?
One last insane idea... it would be amazing if this could somehow buffer the screen as it scrolls offscreen and continue to show the world behind you. Obviously it wouldn't be realtime with baddies and all, but seeing the world you just ran through behind you in Mario 1 would be amazing, and I imagine it would just be a matter of holding onto the high level graphics stuff and just not clearing it out like the NES does as it's scrolling. If this could work in all directions, imagine what it would be like to play a level of Mario 3 and watch as it slowly builds as you scroll through, and you can look back at the entire level at anywhere you scrolled through... it would be breathtaking ;)
Edit: Or imagine a shoot-em-up, and you pause and look behind you at all that just scrolled by... seriously, the more I think about this insane idea of mine, the more tingly I get, haha!
Hi. I'm using a PS3 controller, but it works as an Xbox 360 controller. In Oculus mode it works flawlessly, and yes, I selected it, but in game it didn't worked, it only happened in SteamVR mode. I have tried it again in SteamVR mode, the first time I entered to the app, when I pressed the A button on the menus it stopped working completely, after restarting the app it worked, in menus and in-game. I have tried it multiple times in Oculus mode and never has failed. Not sure if there is a problem with the touch controllers + gamepad in SteamVR mode or is just me, for Oculus owners is not a problem as the Oculus mode runs extremely well, I don't have a Vive, but I have friends with WMR and the same gamepad, will try to get in touch with them this weekend and check if they have the same problem.
About usability, navigating the menus with the gamepad is a bit strange because the button to do something is the "select" button, it would feel a lot more natural to use the "A" button. Also, having the laser beam option as default is not a good idea, if you only have the controller in your hands it's not possible to change the option from beam to gaze, so you must quit your headset, pick the touch controllers, change the option, remove HMD, leave the controllers in place and get the gamepad again. If it's not possible, a way to navigate the configuration screen with the D-pad would also remove this problem. Finally, it would be great if the app enabled automatically the gamepad when it's detected, instead of enabling it manually in the options.
The option to change the rom works perfect, thanks.
BTW, I'm loving the new Retina, not sure if you have improved it or the scripts are different, but it looks gorgeous and the performance is a lot better than in previous versions!!
- Why couldn't you change the mode from laser to beam? It's absolutely possible. You can change the mode and still using the Touch after that as any game pad no?
- The button to do something is Select and Start. For Oculus runtime it mapped to triggers button, i think it's intuitive isn't it?
- I will investigate the game pad issue. It seems strange.
Hi.
About the beam, what I refer is only if you don't have your touch controllers nearby, when I play with gamepad I have the touch left on another table, so I must remove the HMD, pick the touch controllers, change the mode, leave again the touh controllers, pick again the gamepad and put on the HMD. It's not that it doesn't works, is just inconvenient if you are playing only with gamepad. The best would be if you could also navigate the config settings with the gamepad, like a regular game.
The button mapping, I refer in the gamepad, not in the touch controllers, usually when using a gamepad you are accostumed to do actions with the primary button, A, not select, in this case is jut a comment.
And finally, about the controller, I have contacted my friend, he will test it with his headset soon and the same gamepad, to discard if this is a problem only on my rig.
Cheers!
