Tales of Wuxia had annoying mini-games lol, the chest + pop a mole mining + shooting animals are kinda silly and distracting. The game is also heavy on meta-gaming, otherwise you really need guide to get anywhere because time management in Tales of Wuxia is so tight.
Path of Wuxia is like Tales of Wuxia but a lot more forgiving on time management.
On the other hand the Martial Arts learning system is much better in Tales of Wuxia, it is more in depth. Path of Wuxia system feels a lot simpler (only 4 moves per weapon in battle).
Hahaha.. ya, I am kinda with agree with you..
you will have to follow closely on the guides so that you won't waste your time on useless martial arts~
I just love the fact that it was expanded from Heroes of Jin Yong and Wulin Legend, two of their earliest games (before parted ways from the publishing company). I prefer the story than the game-plays lol
The pre-quel abandon the time management systems~ you can wander around the map and entering places like the Tale of Wuxia on the 5th year... more freedom, but story wise, at least for me, not as epic as Tale of Wuxia
Pre-Sequel is the best so far IMHO.
Full-fledged RPG wihtout Princess Maker-like time management part.
I actually like the SLG/Princess Maker like simulation tho. It makes Tales and Path of Wuxia very unique (and replayable due to the various events happening). It is very rare to have RPG like that and I find the experience refreshing. I honestly hope for more games like this (not to say HTLS is bad, in fact, HTLS is very good and maybe ToW Pre-sequel too).
The problem is just in Tales it was way too tight and everything is so obscure. On higher difficulty (there are 4, I mean the 3rd and 4th hardest) you kinda need an excel sheet just to keep track of everything if you don't use a guide otherwise you will get behind on event, martial arts, or both.
Path of Wuxia kinda fixes this by being more lenient on event requirement (there are still some really hard ones to trigger such as winning the 1st 4 Arts competition), having building relationships much easier (gifting not costing energy), and having partial in-game tracker of events (through the quest board). It gives the player more room to breathe and keep event information (deadline being the most important) partially available in-game.
It is just unfortunate that the skill and ability system in Path of Wuxia is too simple, no more weapon skills, only 4 abilities/weapon in battle, limited selection martial arts so far (I guess because it is still the 1st year).
I have faith on the complete version...
I'm ok with anything as long as they keep the battle system lol
