Not only they're mostly having one or two default effects, their weapons also have 2 free slots for additional effects~
Just challenge (press G, but only for hard difficulty or above) them and there's a chance for them to drop their weapon (and oddly, they will still have their weapon)
It also depends on your playstyle and talent tree... if you're playing with Active talent for continuous attacks, Li Tan's blade is the best weapon, because of its default effect: 20% to recover AP (4 Ap I think) and it's upgradable to increase to 50%!
I think you can explore it by yourself first.. if you think you screw up the talent tree, you can always reset them by exchanging the dragon balls with a monk..
As far as I know, there are 3 popular combination of talent tree: Active+Hard, Active+Smart, and Quiet+Stupid (if you're really high level, you can venture to the third talent, but I am too lazy to grind level lol)
Just remember: Light is important, if you move first, you would have a big advantage; Internal is important as well, because it is one of the factor on the damage calculation
And worry not, once you gain some friendship with the blacksmith (you will be notified with the in-game achievement, I think above 400), you will be given a key item and it can exchange for gold grade custom weapon in an island...
you can always boost up other stats by simply practicing from manuals
btw why is it called stupid any way lol , that is a strange name for a talent ?
I'm playing in Chinese, but I seriously don't know how to translate that hahaha
In the world of Wuxia, there are a group of people with advance, complicated, skills martial arts; and there are another group of people with less talent or slightly less intelligent, they practice less complicated, routine, simple, or repetitive moves, but also powerful (sacrificing excessive moves in exchange of power)
This is always a topic of argument in the world of wuxia for few novel authors: which one is better? complete opposite 巧 vs 拙 Smart vs Stupid
So to my limited understanding , wouldn't be better calling them "industrious "
拙 Stupid style is famously portray by a character in "The Legend of the Condor Heroes": Guo Jing.. he is kinda stupid (unable or take much longer time to master some slightly complicated arts), but he is also one of the strongest character after he master the simple yet powerful palm skill: eighteen dragon subduing palms
So the translation to "Stupid" make sense actually lol
The first two games of Heluo Studio: Tale of Wuxia & Tale of Wuxia: The Pre-Sequel, were heavily referencing to Jin Yong's wuxia novels
Although not so much on this game (maybe due to the copyright issues), but the hidden characters' from character creation are still based on some of the main characters from Jin Yong's novels
巧 = Crafty, Skillful
