Heluo Studio is in Big Trouble *UPDATE
Heluo is being sued by Soft-World in Taiwan for copyright violations. Apparently Soft-World owns the sole publishing rights of the first two installments in this franchise, they're claiming that the 3rd installment, Tale of Wuxia, is a direct copy of the 2nd installment in terms of character designs and story lines. The judge ruled in favor of Soft-World, Heluo is to pay Soft-World 24 Million NT ($24,000,000NT). Heluo does not have the fund. If Heluo goes down, the whole single-player Wuxia genre will die out with them...

Honestly this is very unfair to Heluo because those who made the two games are the same group of people, just under different organization at different time.
Soft-World is shameless and I will never buy their game anymore

There's talk among the community to donate money to them. But I'm trying to find out how I can send it to Heluo Studio directly, so the money doesn't land in any private hands. The ruling is set in stone. What's gonna happen is Heluo will be forced to liquidate their assets and disband the team, and that will be the end of quality single-player Wuxia genre.

If we can get 60,000 people each to donate $400NT (less than $15 USD) it will be roughly $25,000,000NT. I'm sure there's more than 60,000 Heluo fans. The problem is finding enough of them...and making sure no one gets scammed.

Don't know yet. Mr. Siu hasn't replied to any private messages on his Weibo. Like I said, only donate when the money can be sent directly to Heluo.

Heluo has just announced that they will NOT disband. They'll keep fighting it while continuing to work on patches, and they won't give up on making quality Wuxia games.

I can see where Soft-World is coming from. I thought this game was an official sequel.

Soft-World was the authorized publisher of Tale of Wuxia in Taiwan, they've earned their share from the game. Why are they making the claims now?

I don't know the story but if the courts ruled in favor of Soft-World then obviously they are entitled. Question is why wouldn't you sue if your rights are being violated?

Thing is we don't know the specifics of their contracts. If Heluo was in copyright violations then Soft-World wouldn't have come on board. The whole situation smells fishy. Also the judges in Taiwan are notorious for making senseless rulings.

Soft-World may have the publishing rights to the first two titles, but Heluo Studio should have the intellectual property rights to all of the games in this franchise, and the stories were authorized by the novels' writer Jin-Yon. Which means they can use the stories, the codes they wrote, and the designs they created, but they can't officially publish the games. And that's why Heluo got Soft-World to publish it in Taiwan.

Ok lol. Wtf do you know about Taiwan judges. Instead of talking ♥♥♥♥ a quick search shows 武林群俠傳 was developed in 2001 by Heluo Studios which was an in-house dev team owned by Soft World until 2005, so Soft World owned this IP from the start. Got nothing to do with publishing rights.

I know a lot more than you that's for sure. You can have a different opinion on whether Heluo was directly employed or contracted by Soft-World, but don't be a d1ck. And everybody knows Wikipedia is an unreliable source. tard.
