[Mod help/request] Restoring the snes backgrounds

I have since played through the game since my previous thread. Though I now believe the rs2 and 3 ports to be serviceable, I still believe rs3 looks considerably worse than its snes contemporary. I've tried finding a way to mod the game myself, but so far no luck; I can't even seem to find where the backgrounds are stored, even after digging through them with unity texture ripping software. The sharedassets.ress files refuse to be opened and I have a hunch they're stored in there. If anybody is willing to offer advice or possible help on this, it will be greatly appreciated. I hope to be able to release the mod to the public if I can get it working, but considering my complete lack of knowledge when it comes to game knowledge I fear I'll never be able to get this done. I plan on using the ripped snes backgrounds from spriter's resource, giving credit to the rippers where possible.
