There are different gameplay systems, but the comparison is valid.
Also, it's not like there is zero story. You do get relevant character scenes.
While I loved FF6's story, the gameplay and party building part of it was what I loved most. Plus exploring the world of ruin was a lot of fun too.
Sounds like this might be something I'm interested in. I'll check it out!
"Scarlet Grace" is a "more battle specific" version of this game.
The poster above me mentions Scarlet Grace being more battle-oriented, but that's not out for another month and, well.. honestly, I feel this is a better starting point into the series as a whole.
Because you seem to love grinding so you'll like even more that game if it's not about grinding.
