Plot. (Spoilers!)

Hello!

So what's everyone's take on the story? My reckon is the player drank far too much had some kind of altercation and cut someone to pieces, not sure what the chainsaw sound at the end is.

Any other ideas on the story?

The chainsaw in the third iteration is found in the bedroom when the chopped up body is found which leads me to think that our protagonist is either dead or the killer after they find another victim.

The entire game had my heart pounding, was not expecting it to be as creepy as it turned out to be, the thing I can’t work out is who the player is, like are they a survivor or the killer or neither?

It confuses me greatly.

This whole game gave me wonderful flashbacks to the cancelled playable teaser for Silent Hills, I only hope this is just a taste for something bigger in the same style by 98demake.

well if you pay close attention, you'll see that each of the doors start to form pools of blood running from them, so what we see as a player is the one body, already cut up and then we see nothing else, but you know the chainsaw is being used. So this person has probably killed at least three people. the camera is on the ground in the end because he's at work.

My guess is they're the video diaries of a serial killer of sorts. The first day is probably before he's killed, just making a video showing off his hide out. Notice a boards that cover up the windows to make the house look condemned.

The second day he's just kidnapped someone, and they're probably just waking up. You can hear a few knocks coming from inside the house.

The third day, the police have been called and are investigating the house. You can hear a few officers outside and see flashlights being shined inside through the window as well as the red and blue lights of the police cars. The killer's obviously about to kill someone, as there's a body all wrapped up, but I think they may be still alive, just uncouncious, as I think I heard some slight moans when I went inside the room.

The fourth day, he's probably killed multiple victims now, and is about to kill another. You can hear the next victim crying in the other room, begging to be let out, and blood coats the floor leading up to the bedroom where you see the body parts of a previous victim, and the chainsaw murder weapon, as well as some kind of plastic tarp to keep the blood off everything.

The final day is him preparing to murder the victim crying from the previous day off screen. You hear the chainsaw revving up and it's not too difficult to imagine what's going to happen.

Anyone catch the minute differences from day to day? A black and white piece on the wall completely changes to reveal a nude woman, when on the first day the only thing that was visible was the top of her knee. This image is across from a picture of Jesus either about to be put on the cross or being taken off it. There's more obvious changes, like the position of the mattress, the body on it, the blood spatters, the cops, the knocked over chair infront of tthe bible, etc.

Also needs to be mentioned: the heavy breathing you can hear if you pause the game. This might be the killer rewatching their old footage. The only evidence I can think of is you're given no option to open the doors when the cops arrive. The person filming is either a prisoner or the killer (may be both and the killer is struggling with dissociative personality disorder). There is some evidence with the trash beside the bed- evidence of pill and alcohol consumption.

You noticed the shoes ? Those are hiking shoes, pretty muddy. On the first day, the shoes are inside, second day shoes are gone, and you could see mud trails leading to the mattress and the locked door.

Could the boots be muddy after our protagonist buried a body of a previous victim?

I took it as the killer's perspective on film. Capturing his methods on film. We see a fragment of a wrapped up victim, a cut up one and blood/moaning from the victim's locked rooms.

Though from that pov I don't understand why the killer would leave the camera on the floor as it did in the end. You'd think he'd want to film the actual killing and aim the camera at that. Unless that is some sort of irrelevant 'clean up' to him and the acts that take place in the rooms is what he finds worth filming.

I really like your detailed explanation and theory! I was thinking maybe a victim who got a hold of a camera and is filming what's going on, but it makes so much more sense that it's a serial killer's video diary.
