First air race - how to turn?
Hey, fellow punks!

There's an optional mission relatively early on where you can have an air race with 'friendly mike'. You race him in an aircraft. At this time, the only air propulsion things you have is to make an airship, with propeller and rudder.

How can you make a decent airship to race with? Speed isn't the issue - turning and changing direction with any speed or accuracy at all is.

I feel like at this stage, you don't have the parts to do this. You CAN do it, but you have to try it many times and it's frustrating as heck. Not ideal.

Or, it's possible I'm doing something wrong, of course. Suggestions? Help?

You have to complete the next main mission that unlocks the side air propellers, then go back to the race!

I made a thingy to complete the first race before the main mission. It requires a bit of luck, but still, it's a good aircraft.

It was further improved later, but for future players, this is a good one for that race if you want to do that first.

I need to look at that, I have blocks now that I didn't have then... 8-)

I didn't have the side air propellers on my dirigible and did ok.

Dirigibles turn slowly and also have a delay in response. The faster you turn, the more the delay can mess you up. Start to turn early, stop turning early and counter turn (Turn the opposite way and then back to center) to stop your turn quickly.

This can also apply to ships.

And also to things in the real world. Learning about it here could save your life some day... 8-}
