I'll believe you once you show us some real source.
Also you probably didn't read the whole message for some reason so I'll say it again, read it this time no matter how hard it is for you: In RE3 mercenaries mode unlocked stuff for the campaign, like infinite ammo and such. Here RE3 remake already does that without Mercenaries mode, so what would be the point of adding a mercenarie mode now ?
And let's not forget one thing: The devs who worked on RE3 remake are now working on RE4 remake. So I doubt that they have time to make a Mercenarie mode even if it could be done quickly. So unless you have official news I won't trust it.
You forget that RESISTANCE was meant to be it's own thing but they but it in a bundle with RE3Remake as an afterthought, because of that it has a seperate exe etc.
And it is possible that they have some plans for additional content for the RE3Remake, because the the boosterpack model of RESISTANCE will proprably fail to generate enough money in it's current state, and RE3Remake players would proprably pay for addional RE3 DLC to to get the Gamemodes and content that they are missing from the Original.
I'm also feeling a bit dirty thinking it, but I really feel that Capcom's inhouse co-op online would outshine Resistance by this point if this is true. Even if it's just two players instead of four to five like the engine can handle, it should be a much smoother and enjoyable experience compared to how lopsided Resistance has become where one side stomps the other with no real inbetween due to the shrinking player count keeping out fresh blood.
Best scenario is that they sell Resistance as its own thing once this hits and the fandom possibly gains two enjoyable online modes to keep us entertained until we're closer to next major title in the series. Resistance always has room to improve, while this new mode gives new possibilities to enjoy.
I mean if we get a co-op PvE game without host lagging and no cheaters I wouldn't mind that, even if the custom game of RE Resistance with friends allow for some cool matches if everyone follow the rules.
I'll give some exemple: 1vs1 RE2 style.
The survivor can only buy ammo, can only use the MUP and can collect items, can't use fever skill and some character can have skill restriction if we decide it's too OP, can't use the special weapons. The MM (wich is usualy me) can only spawn tough zombies, regular zombies, crawling zombies, 1 licker per area and 2 zombie dealer per area max. No traps, no guns, and finaly can't control zombies and can't buff creatures. I can lock doors on area 2 and 3 but that depend if the friend I'll fight want me to go easy on him/her or not, some of the most hardcore RE fans amongst my friends give me a 30 second headstart to fill rooms with zombies and even managed to escape area 1 once without shooting once. That's mad fun to play.
4 knife versus sleepy zombies.
The rules are simple, 4 survivors can only use the knife, no fever skills, no Equipment, on area 3 they can use melee weapons only for the cores (no Spencer build core allowed), MM can only use crawling zombies, on area 2 he can berserk them, on area 3 he can poison and berserk them. It's pretty hilarious.
Finaly the last one I'll share wich is called: Who let the dogs out ?
Survivors can't kill ennemies aside Yorick, MM can only spawn berserk zombie dogs. so you see dogs running around everywere wich is bad for my PC but it's very funny for everyone.
So a PvE co-op game sound fun even if I doubt that we will get mercenaries mode.
picture is kinda *old* and was in internet since looong time
