Barely any difference in FPS when changing graphic settings
My game runs on 30-40 FPS on highest settings but even on the lowest there is maybe a difference of 5 FPS so not really worth it when the game looks like crap then
Is this normal that the settings have barely any influence on the FPS?

Let's see, when "some point in the future is". Until then, it's unplayable for a lot of people, myself included. I'm quite unlucky in this point it seems. I can't even get 30fps stable with a 3700x, 32gb of ram and a 4080, while Tarkov and Darktide run well at the highest settings.
The priorities seem to be focused more on content while the performance keeps tanking.

Optimization should happen at the very core and beginning of a game, on it's basic level; including shader, geometry, and video draw. In fact why is this not the default set up in a basic scene like in Unity or Unreal Engine? Do they not provide these technologies? Optimization tweaks can come later. Yet most devs skip this entirely until people ♥♥♥♥♥ enough for them to get a clue; because they don't play test their own game.

The one game my 3060 outperforms a 4080.

Personally I've had slightly better luck when enabling Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in windows settings.

They've been talking about the issue with single core for a while now, at least a year back or more. I don't even want new content at this point, I just want them to fix the damn processor issue and all the other bugs.

Unfortunately this is how Unity works right now. The game is able to use mainly only a single core on the processor and its processor heavy.
We are are focusing on adding more content to the game and meanwhile trying to keep the game's performance on the more or less same level.
If we would focus on the performance now and spend lot of time on it then we would break it again by adding more and more content to the game so it does not make sense from a production value to focus only on the performance right now.

In the future updates when we will be polishing the game we will focus on the performance a lot but it will take time until we get there.

Sorry for the inconveniences.
Yeah thats a lie. Im 10 years developer with Unity. Unity fully capable of using multy core mode. Just look at Endless Legend for example.

Even Godot, an open source game engine, has multi-threaded technology; though you have to write code to take advantage of it. I would assume the same is in Unity. Maybe the devs are using a really old unity version? Writing code for multi-threaded processes is not easy. The concepts are advanced and require research into how it works and how to exchange data between threads.

Sad... I hope I'm still interested in the game when the multithreading support comes to the game in a few years. At the moment I'm able to destroy the 3rd laser. So it's not over yet. But mostly I'm losing interest in a game when I've finished it.
