As for the chests, they indeed don't connect. They're great for small amounts of very specific items that you don't really use in your production lines, or at least not often.
So many things in this game seem overkill/redundant and unnecessarily complicated ... I follow the quests, but I'm not really sure I understand what I'm doing?
I'm giving it a chance and will try to finish a playthrough, but I never got the feeling that I will remember all the things that I have to which the "tutorial" taught me...
Hmm you lost me... Can you PLACE a module but UNDEPLOY it?
Or do you just don't place it at all and keep it in the ships inventory?
Just take it all one step at a time. There is no timer to worry about except for getting underground during eruptions. Explore and experiment at your own pace, and remember that all resources are infinite, so anything that is "wasted" is a minor inconvenience at worst.
The special thing about storage modules is that they don't need to be deployed to offer the storage space they provide. So if you fold them back up into the ship, they take less damage, enemies are more likely to ignore them, and it frees up cores for other modules to use.
The only downside is that deployed storage modules do offer a small amount of production, helping you make items faster, but the amount is not much. Basically, the pros of packing them up outweighs the cons of having them packed.
Of course. How do you think they close when you go underground ? Or how do you intend on saving energy when you don't need your turrets ? Or balancing your core slots ? Just click the lightbulb to close/open a module. Or click on it wherever if you're on the outside.
Its a LOT to learn, but im keeping at it, and seeing that the AI is quite basic, but not stupid (i think its a great idea that they turn back, run and heal when they are damaged too much), i mustnt fear that the game becomes trivial as it progresses.
