COG drillships ; Fight or Run?
I have successfully taken down one T3 COG drill ship, solo, in a cave, as part of the quest. But everyone I have tried since then just runs away as soon as I start attacking. Am I missing a tactic to disable them ? I start by disabling their guns on their weaker side with mortars. But should I target the drill cone? the power plants on top? What is your most successful tactic ? I need more damaged GOG parts to complete my T3 upgrade.

You just need to be inside the enemy drill and destroy it from the inside. It won't go underground if you're on board.

Yep. Do what Grem here says. Use mortars and grenades to destroy turrets and/or open a hole in the ship. Get inside, switch to shotgun and clear the place of spawners. Once the immediate Cog threat is dealt with you can tear the ship apart from the inside using a pick if you have time, or bombs if you don't.

Yes, but it is suicide to rush for the door without taking out the nearest gun turrets. My first T3 was a wreck before I boarded it with no modules or panels left on 1st segment. Then I boarded it and fought through 2nd segment to destroy spawners. But now the ships seem to run away if I start to attack patrols/guards with gunfire before I can even land 3 or 4 mortars.

Depends, I try to approach a drillship from the front or back depending on which side has fewer guns. I usually only have to disable one or 2 turrets to clear a path to the ship's hull. Reaching the drillship is the #1 objective. Once you get in close, you can use open modules as walls to hide behind, and at that point the drillship won't try to escape.

Thanks. Sounds like a good idea to hide between modules. Must try that. If you are an external platform, does that stop the ship for folding up?

i hate fighting inside drillships... since im pretty much an explosive expert. XD

i run through ship and kill all spawns with shotgun/minigun and then run from one end to the other dropping dynamite on 5 second detonator. and watch the fire.

Once being inside its easy... but getting into them is hard, if you have not easy difficulty and a T4 drillship to raid... HORDES of cogs coming out of this ♥♥♥♥...

Anyone has a neat trick for this ? going staight for the drillship doesnt work, no time to fire one weapon at the ship without dealing with the 50+ cogs first.

My style is to attack and wipe out first wave after surfacing.. heal.. use hand mortar to take out turret and enter there.. take out all spawners(we should be able to make these) and chill

Playing solo on nightmare that's impossible to kill all of them, i just take 5 Titanium armor and 15 TNT.
I breach with High explo ammo for the Hand mortar on both side and run in dropping 5 - 6 TNT and clear the last ones with Minigun. Playing that way clear a T4 in Nightmare solo in 1 to 2 minutes and you feel so badass hehe.
