Drill ships and even specifically ones that look similar to whats in the game have been around for along time....way longer then incredibles.

Jules Verne is the earliest I can think of with journey to the centre of the earth.

Written in the mid 1800's if memory serves.

There was no drillship in Verne's JttCotE IIRC. They have been around a long time though.
