Power Plant and Storage Level 2 not better that Level 1!
- Power plant Level 2 using 2 spaces on your Drillship with 10 energy/sec and 150 hit points but if you put two Power Plant L1 that give you the same amount of energy but with 200 hit point in total.

- Storage the same you need 2 spaces on your Drillship with the level 2 ( with 48 Spaces of storage) and its give you the same spaces if you put two level 1 (24 spaces).

Its fun the first hours, but the lack of compass or coordinates for the direction you need to go on the map, you will get lost very easily or expand the map view.

Other thing Dev need to allow to surface when the enemy is on the same place, like a surprise attack.

Power Modules and Storage Modules take 5 Core slots regardless of the tier used, that is the reason for upgrading.

Yeah, it's mostly just about the core slots, like how with the endgame sort of drill ship, if you kept all of the one space storage modules you wouldn't have enough core slots for them. And if I read correctly it is also for the achievement of only using one storage module throughout the entire game, the level three module only counts as one but has the capacity of three.

Yes, higher tier modules are better. Storage is just about core slots but powerplants also make more energy,
T1 power plant : 1 coal = 500 energy
T2 : 1 coal = 1000 energy
T3 : 1 coal = 1500 energy

There are quests to guide you.

And no, they need to not allow to do that because it would simply ruin the game.
