Waiting
We need some kind of waiting mechanic to pass time.
Like in the Elder Scrolls, where you can wait where ever and when ever you want.
Or like in the Shadow of Doubt, where you need to sit somewhere first.
I don't even mind if that will make us depressed or something, because waiting for things to finish or open in the game, makes me depressed IRL.

And yes, I know about the magazines, they aren't enough.

There are several. Volunteering for 6 hours, working at the telemarketing company for 8, watching TV for 4 (only ones in your own apartment), drinking so much that you pass out for several hours, and so on.
Didn't know about volunteering.

But that isn't what I mean. The company has its own working hours and I can't get to my TV (renovation).

I mean waiting for a few hours until the shops opne, or the company. I guess having a few stacks of magazines is a solution after all.

volunteering is always available, if you need to skip a couple of days then the best way is to do the telemarking job in the morning, then drink one coffee and fill all your other needs, go volunteering and then go to bed in the hostel afterwards, you'll wake up just in time to do the telemarketing job so you can repeat it like this until your renovation is done
just take sleeping pills and sleep in your apartment, much better than any of the other options, especially when you have a high quality bed. also has the advantage of being inside the same load zone as all your manufacturing equipment means you can skip all the timers with no real inconvenience.
for short time skips you can read newspaper/magazines
IDK how well it works but If you go to jail and then you're done if the cell stays open there are those options there. The dude in the wall is 4 hours and the game and magazine are 2 I believe. Would be nice if we can get the GameBoy at home... DEVS!! Hint Hint!! Even enough to be able to keep it on us.

Sleeping pills, you can sleep the hours away and alarm clock is nice to wake up on time. Also, with the big tv you can “watch it” for four hours to pass time too

Your best bet would be sleeping pills than
Tbls Feb 6 @ 3:54am
Volunteering - 6 hrs (anytime)
Telemarketing - 8 hrs (window to start the job is ~8am-12pm)
Mushroom Lantern Workshop - 8 hrs (anytime)
Certain magazines - 1 hr, some might be 2
Sleeping pills - variable hours (flexible but should be followed up by sleeping in a bed that helps with mood)
Tube TVs (small and large) - 2 hrs
Flatscreen TV - 4 hrs

That's about all I know.
