Can someone explain what dictates the quality of your mash?

Sooo im trying to use green mushrooms as a substitute for yeast, but when i try to make 30L of mash, the quality is usually poor. However there ARE times where it has been excellent quality. Why is that? I have mashing lvl 10 and the green mushrooms are the best quality they can be. Same for the carrots I use.

What factor am i missing here?

(also side note, i dont want to make another post. Anyone know if theres any npc in the game that buys coffee? Looking to start a coffee business lol)

I can't really answer the mashing quality question, however I do know the merchant in the mines, the one outside the OS mining services DOES buy coffee

What type of mashing equipment do you have? The lowest tier is lower quality. Even if my mash is okay quality when I put it in the copper distiller the alcohol comes out excellent.

Im using the mashing kettle. Did not even realize there was a new masher? I guess i'll have to check that out!

I have no idea, I've used highest quality masher, green mushrooms (highp otentcy) and excellent quality carrots and gotten poor quality mash on the highest skill level, but if i swap out sugar for carrots I get excelletn quality, so I have no idea.

Mash quality: Your mashing skill, the machine efficiency, the water quality and the crop quality+difficulty. I assume that drugs will have an effect as well, such as being drunk or using shrooms.

In all honesty though, the mash quality only matters if you're planning on selling it. I'm constantly making absolute garbage quality mash, while still reaching the highest quality moonshine.

Going purely on anecdotal evidence, I'd say that the mashing machine makes the biggest difference. I've never gotten over "bad" quality on the mashing tun, while I'm almost always getting excellent on the mashing kettle.

I have maxed out mashing and don't get anything under excellent with the tun or the kettle, so based on what others are saying here I'm not sure.
