Does the type of water affect mashing quality?
Exactly what the title says- Does the type of water affect how good mash turns out?

99% sure that it does.
BUT
Once you reach the perfect end-product, I think it stops mattering. I'm going to do some tests to find out for sure, but I think it'll only really matter in the beginning.
I looked on stalburg wiki. It doesn't say it affects it. Though it looks like it could down the road. Things that do affect it are skills and equipment.

Like I expected, there seems to be a maximum quality for the mash. If you can reach that, you don't need to purify the water. I just did a test, and both mash samples have the same quality, and same value, even though one was made with clean water, and the other with purified water. I'll edit this with the final results of the final-final results all the way up to moonshine.

And ducksmatter if you didn't know already you can just get clean water from taps. Early game I always buy the 20L containers from one stop and then fill them with clean water from the laundrymat in the bottom of Kolohola A until I can be bothered using the chemical bench to build my stats.

just buy them from one stop shop inside the area your building is. You can also generally get a free one from Kolohola A in the shopping trolley
K thanks. I've been getting the free ones. Never saw one in the shop when I go though. Might have to go more often. I have gotten a lot of copper bars there though.

Yeah early on in the game before I have a fair few tenants I kinda have a daily game routine where every morning I go to one stop shop and sell anything I've picked up the previous game day and won't use and buy a few 20L's until I have a wardrobe full. Then I go to Omarket sell bottles and then do some farming. One stop is also where I get a backpack and watch from as soon as I can. Store items change daily so they aren't always going to be in the store but that's another reason I try to go most game days.

Update: There is NO difference in the type of water once you reach the maximum quality. It will however make it easier on lower skill levels to get better quality.

As for 20l bottles, you can make them with the 3D printer as well. It really helps to have 3-4 printers running to get enough of them once you're properly set up.
