No Duck Addiction?

I'm angling for some achievements and started a second profile so I could get the more life-ruining ones such as duck addiction-related ones but they don't seem to be working? I picked up the blue duck intact and no "Ducks Ducks Ducks!" achievement (though a guide claimed that picking it up would result in it) and though I've held onto it for a couple of days without giving it to the blue Mr. Duck, still no sort of notice of having duck addiction. No needs popup, nuthin. I even set my addiction rate to double and got goose egg. Does it just TAKE a while to kick in? I'm ASSUMING that it's supposed to be instantaneous and that "Ducks Ducks Ducks" achievement is what you get once you acquire the addiction itself, not just picking up the duck, but no addiction so far.

Is it bugged or am I just impatient?

you have to complete the mission. either give him the duck, or keep it. then you will get the duck addiction

and by keeping it, i mean you have to still go talk to him and tell him you want to keep it

Ah, okay. I was also trying to get "Duck Hater" and it said I had to cure the addiction via returning the duck, so I assumed I had to wait to get the addiction first and THEN give it to him.

You get the addiction if you take the Blue Quack - either the original one or the one you may receive as a reward from Mr.Duck after bringing him the Blue Quack's head.

If you destroy the original Blue Quack and reject the second one you won't get the addiction.

Ah, okay. I was also trying to get "Duck Hater" and it said I had to cure the addiction via returning the duck, so I assumed I had to wait to get the addiction first and THEN give it to him.

i think for the duck hater acheivment you have to turn in the duck or duck head and reject his offer for a blue duck

I have now completed the quest and kept the original duck upon request and still nothing. I hastened the day in case it still took a moment. No achievements, no addiction. I fear something may be awry.

I did that on my first profile and didn't get that achievement, either. The only duck related achievement I've managed to get is Silence of the Ducks. The ducks do not like me after that, it seems.

No. I have addictions doubled to try to increase it. Every single other addiction comes through, just not the ducks. I've also been able to still get other achievements in the game, just not these specific ones for some reason.

Duck Addiction takes a very, very long time to build up to a point you actually notice a Need. The achievements specific to it are supposed to occur on picking up an intact Blue Duck (Ducks Ducks Ducks), and on returning a Blue Duck, intact or decapitated, to Mr Duck and refusing his offer of a new one (Duck Hater). The level of addiction is irrelevant to these two achievements.

However, there's also (I Should Be Here), which requires maxing all addictions, specifically to have them simultaneously at an addiction level at or above 99.75 (since decay means true 100/100/100/100 is not possible without super-tight timing)... what the description does not point out, is that it counts all four addiction types. Yes, the Blue Duck is required for (I Should Be Here).

I already know about the "I Should Be Here" one, thank you. I'm not sure why you explained it to me. I just also inexplicably didn't get achievements for the previous two things and received no evidence of the last required addiction taking place (i.e. duck).

huh, i guess you could try f1 > player_stats get . and see what that tells you... i mean, the duck addiction takes about 1-2 in game days to show up. you'll wanna make sure you have no ducks in inventory ... i assume you completed dialog with duck guy in bar, took duck or rejected it. idk. might just have to start a new
