Face Mask?

I can't remember where I heard of this, but I think that if you have a face mask, then it would help protect you from the mushrooms when you need to clean them up or clear them out.

Where can you find this face mask, or was I trippin' and misunderstood this tidbit of info? Is there even a face mask and does it even do anything (if it exists)

That's correct, the masks protect you from mushroom exposure. You can buy masks at the pharmacy (building with green walls at the market place).
Don't forget to open the pack and equip one before picking up mushrooms. There's a slot in your inventory that looks like a mask, that's where you put it.

do note that the mask condition ticks down as soon as you put it on even if you take it off. not sure if it ticks down slower when you take it off or not.
and finnaly there is no hint that the mask have hit zero.

If you've just loaded the game, you have to re-equip it for it to work btw. So if you start coughing near fungi while wearing a mask, try to re-equip it.
