skills? stats? character screen?

I can't seem to see the status of my health unless there's something wrong. Also, I am interested in building up my skills but I have no idea what they are. Where do I find this information?

Stats aren't visible until they hit a certain threshold, so that's completely normal. Once your health gets to around ~60ish I believe, that's when the icon is visible. Of course the stats are still counted even when the icon is NOT visible. (Say for example you have the thirst icon - you drink only one gulp for it to "go away", and you'll notice it comes right back shortly afterwards, since you only increased the stat past the threshold).

Skills are also currently non-visible except in the console I believe. This is something that will be changed in later builds of the game, as it's a very common suggestion / complaint. You have skills for most workbenches in the game (carpentry, machining, ect), as well as things like lockpicking and cooking. Just keep using the machines and you'll increase your skills over time.
