Game pulled from steam - what happened?
Both games created and published by Omey Salvi (Crossextion and... this game) were pulled 8 hours ago it seems. At the same time (like 5 minutes later, practically no time in valve terms) all games created and published by GaluluGame (5 titles all starting with shineg) were pulled.

Are these 2 events connected? Is it a pure coincidence? Ultimately, what caused this game to be pullled from steam?

Steam banned my game and my developer account. I made a game about a mass shooter. It was based on machine learning. No visuals. Just text and typing. I ran sentiment analysis on the text to figure out how toxic the input was. The player is supposed to type stuff on a Facebook like wall while you heard sounds of people being gunned down in the background. I think they banned it because it was too similar to the Christchurch shooting. I am lost for words and feel broken. I wouldn't have made the game if I knew this was going to happen.

damn dude :( that's rough, seems a little harsh of valve to ban you right off the bat, even with a topic like that... hoping you can work something out

one question though - are your games being pulled at the same time as galulugame (again, a separate name with (formerly) 5 games on steam) a coincidence? were you associated with them in some way?

I have no idea who they are

About this other game you made. Can you upload it on kongregate or some other playform? This looks interesting.

I know this is years ago at this point, but video games are art. Being suppressed even though the game sounds super inappropriate, is still wrong in my eyes. Its just a game at the end of the day and should be able to played by everyone, even if the topic is super ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. You mean to tell me I can RP with a sex dragon in VR but a text based realistic horror game cant be on the store?

Thank you for your comment. This game got removed from steam because 3 months later I submitted a game about a mass shooter. They took down my account and all my games. I tried creating another account and uploaded other games but they got taken down too a year later. It wasn't a school shooting as people are saying. It was a mass shooting game, which I realize doesn't make it any better and makes me sound like someone with a perverse sense of morality. I am ashamed of making it but I was in a real dark place then and I'm trying to be a better person. I haven't harmed anyone in real life and would never think of doing something like that. I was immature and making it for the sake of being edgy. My intention was never to use controversy to make money. I just wanted to create something interesting. I was wrong and I hope I get some redemption someday. I also feel the game itself was interesting because it was complete text based typing that used sentiment analysis using machine learning to detect the sentiment of the text and pushed forward a story. I am sure this explanation doesn't make it any better but I'm only asking for forgiveness for my past mistakes. Steam was right in its decision to remove the game. It is a private corporation and can do what it wants. I plan to upload both games to my personal website soon and I'll update this forum when it happens.

Nah man, don't be sorry. Steam shouldn't be removing games because they are dark, dark games can be some of the most thought provoking. I hate when companies remove things they deem too bad for us, if its something someone finds offensive than they can just not play it. Id play the games you create, do you upload them anywhere else?

How is a text based game banned when call of duty modern warfare 2 with the "no russian" level is still allowed on the storefront, where you literally carry out a terrorist attack in an airport?...

Hi, I am going to launch a website in a few months with all my games, around 10 or so. I have to remove all the steam integration, update some assets, clean up the code. It has taken a lot more time than I anticipated. I'll post a link to Russian Roulette One Life and other games here once they are online.
