Desperately need help with game
Hello. So unfortunately I am going through a mental breakdown and am trying to play this game for some relief, but so far all I get is frustration. I joined the Kremlingames Discord but didn't get any help. I was told to go play Ostalgie even though I have over 100 hours with that game and have unlocked lots of achievements (check my profile and see). My goal has been to forge a conservative-reformer alliance, but I would be happy to survive until 1985. I usually make it to 78-79 when I get the series of events related to purging certain people. Incredibly, even if I promise to make "large-scale reforms," Deng threatens to replace me (Hua Guofeng). I read somewhere to purge Pang Zhen and the Wang guy if I wanted to hew to conservative communism, but for some reason keeping Li Xiannian devastates my party support if I keep him. Other times, standard of living drops like a stone, so I try to put a little into welfare and services (I read somewhere putting too much money at a time leads to more corruption). I have been getting rid of Hua Guofeng and replacing him with Wu De for his anti-corruption trait but I have also seen people say Hua Guofeng can be really powerful. I also don't get the Latin American events (huge walls of text that usually have me pick between two right-wing options) and usually just "keep out" of them. Ostalgie was good because it had some clear-cut foreign policy options but I have no idea what to do as China. I figured out how to turn Iran socialist only by reading the threads on here. Honestly, any help at all would be appreciated. I am going through a tough time right now and could really use some human kindness.

Play on Easy or Sandbox, then play around with the different options for foreign policy

For the first events in the game if you keep 9 money in propaganda I usually do Sabotage campaign, Do nothing and Ignore. I don't recommend getting to make any changes in your internal policies until you are more stable, the best is to think to the contrary than Ostalgie, that is a long drive so is best to make the changes when you are fully stabilized.

For politicians I usually put Li Xiannian as Premier and CMC, MFA usually goes to Wu De/Wang Dongxing for bettering relations with the USSR and Zhao Ziyang for the USA, in the governorships put people with the trait Thrifty and Firm or some of the two, the reason is that the first reduces spending and the second reduces Corruption.

For defending against a party coup or Deng, you need like 15 Agents, usually Deng will try to take power from you if the reformist have more power than other factions.

The easiest Path is to support the moderates at least until 1980/81 at that point you will be more stable, in term of foreign policy, usually you will get the option to support certain actions depending on your Army, Agent or Money, some of them demand that you press some button in the map mode.

In term of South America, is a chain of events in every country, as an example Bolivia as 3 events, if you support the 3 times the leftist candidate Hernan Siles, he would win and he would get under your influence, also, for getting certain people elected you need to get more Dissatisfaction than Development (Usually 20 more) and then you can get people like the left wing in Brazil, in other countries like Venezuela if you support the left in events will always win.
But if you are interacting with the countries of South America out of events America will reduce relations with you.

For events, the best to do is to follow some guide like what i link, it has every event and how many resources you need for doing it.

This was so helpful and all it took was one person showing compassion and making a lot of effort. I really appreciate it.
