Ultra-left run?

I completed the game 2 times, first time as a dengist and second time as a ...dengist who cozied up and switched to the USSR camp in the very end game. Every time I've tried to do a left-radical run I get either overthrown and/or my economy goes downhill because of the eventual US embargo. Any tips on how to do a successful run as a left-radical?

In the early game forget your economic spending, dump your money into MSS/Propaganda with a bit sprinkled into the army. (namely due to party coup potential, and a lack of agents being possible.)

You will tank peoples support until after you can stabilise after continuing the Cultural Revolution.

Also be prepared for a US embargo, as that'll undoubtedly happen at some point.
