Colors, lights and atmosphere of Gothic 1.
All right so, at first guys stop using grey filter I mean this [cdn.discordapp.com] - in my opinion - this looks awful. Gothic 1 is not grey becouse of grey filter but just by lights and some kind of dust above us which changes the color of the sun's rays.

Check this photos and tell which one of these are giving you a good feelings about old climate from Gothic 1. I don't changed these photos in any program etc.

Photos [imgur.com]

1 photo - all is on ultra
2 photo - post-procesing is low
3 photo - post-procesing is low + Foliage is medium

For me the best compromise between our dark, grey look and the living colors are photos with a number 2 and 3. Its darker and for me this is near a perfection but still we need this dust and changes in sun's rays colors becouse they are still too light and they should turn off the reflecion from armors and the ground (Beliar shrine).

I set Foliage on medium just becouse in Gothic 1 grass density is very low and that small amount of grass also have a big impact on atmosphere becouse this make a feel like this ground around us is dead. During this comparison I realiz that there is a lot of simple, smal things that define the atmosphere of Gothic 1.

Why medium and not low? With low option this world looks too empty for me.

Dust - propably this is just a simple fog but it's not white and in my opinion chenging the color of fog will help create a more depressing atmosphere.

My english is poor but I have hope that you understand that what I mean.

I very much agree on that the demo is too bright and there is too much bloom. Changing the dust (German: Verblauung) to a brownish palette would greatly increase the gothicness!

I actually like the brightness and beauty during the day it gives it a more adventurey feeling to it if you know I mean. While during the short time we spend during night it gave me the creeps of how dark and scary it was. For me it was really really dark which made it all the more scary when you only could see the few fires of torches in the distance. This happy go lucky bright day and super creppy scary night contrast gives it a really nice balance in adventuring. The only thing I'd like to see however is for the ever looming magic barrier to be a little bit more prominent, so that you get a better feeling of being imprisoned for real.

Many here are pointing that the game should be darker ...
but many modern game designers interpret “darker” as adding a greenish or brownish-mustard color filter and fog, very bluntly, obsessively and generally overdoing it.

For me, it’s better if the game will be as bright and colorfull as it is now than just another foggy blue-mustard monochrome with dark corners.

Though I think chromatic aberration effect should be optional,
yes, it adds a cinematic effect, saturation vibrancy and all that, but it's a bit overused.
