What’s the relationship between Date an Aiba?

By the end of the game, what’s the relationship between Aiba and Date? Are they friends or is there something more romantic going on between them? I would definitely prefer the ladder.

I guess just friends, if there's any romantic relationship, it's between Date and Hitomi

I guess, but I thought Falco and Date were two different people. Even if they did share the same body and personality I thought they each had different memories.

I was under the impression he regained all his memories at the end by getting his original body.

Sure, but he also has six years worth of new memories. He's no longer the person he was back then. It's like meeting an old friend after having no contact with them for six years: things just won't be the same, at least not at first. Not to mention the guilt he feels about shooting her.

Date would not have regained any memories of prison, since those memories belonged to Rohan and were lost when Rohan was put into Renju's body and passed away from the traffic accident injuries. He also didn't, technically, regain any of his memories at all - which is why four different characters remind Date he used to be Falco during the ending and epilogue.

Immediately prior to Date returning to his original body, Saito (in the Falco body) was surprised to learn Date already knew things he shouldn't, such as the hidden function of the Psync machine.

Date got this information, along with everything else, from a "parallel" version of himself. It's a big ol' cop-out because they didn't have the properly-established and story-developed excuse of SHiFT-ing from the Zero Escape games.

So, technically, Date doesn't get his memories back if you wanna be precise, he gets the info transmitted from a parallel universe.

Honestly though, it's pretty cut-and-dry that Aiba has a great deal of affection for Date, but Date rekindles his love for Hitomi as he subtly agrees to Iris' desire for them to be a family when you visit the Sagan Residence during the epilogue. Poor Aiba, comes back from the dead and still doesn't get the guy.

You're reading too far, mate. Aiba and Date are partners and Best Friends Forever.
I too would be quite sad if my best friend had to share the same fate as Aiba... And I would feel even worst about it if I was living 24/24 7/7 with said best friend...
